I own a Red 1969 chevelle ss 396/325hp post car, it was bought by my dad in 69 at a small dealership in Fredonia,KS.
It came with the rubber floor mat, the bench seat with the white strips that I have seen in some pick but mine came factory with a 3 speed manual on the floor that i've never heard of any others having.
Just curious if anyone else has ever heard of this or it is pretty rare, I have all the original document from when he bought the car still in the glovebox and hope to have it up to tip top condition someday. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

Yep, a friend of mine has a car that was originally a 300 Deluxe SS 396 (L35)with a 3 speed. Last I heard, he still has the original shifter stored in the attic of his garage.
The car is now sporting full Malibu SS trim with buckets, console, a 427 & a 4 speed. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Lance,
Welcome to the site. There isn't any way of knowing how many 69 Chevelle SS396 Post Sedans there were with the MC1 HD 3-speed, but it wasn't real common. Total cars with that option was 15,748. That inclued all 69 Chevelle body styles.
Like Pete said, there are a few others here that are Postaholics.
I myself have been bit by the bug to own as many as possible.
Definitely show us some pics of yours.
Here's a pic of one I just bought last year.

Lance, welcome to the site. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif There are a lot of people here with a lot of knowledge. Don't be afraid to ask any question. I will guarantee someone here will know the answer.
I just purchased this one from Dan Vasic (postsedan) from this website in January. He is very knowledgable on these cars. I'm sure he will have no problem answering questions about your car..he's not your typical Bear fan!

Welcome Lance http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Add my name to the above list of "Post Car Junkies". I've had mine for nine years now. If you go to my website below you will find a lot of information about the 69 300 Deluxe models and what makes them unique from the Malibus. I've also done a lot of research on them over the years. If we can help just let us know.

Hi Lance,
Glad to see in the picture that you had the good sense to use jack stands under the car and not just up on the bumper jack! Really neat that your dad bought it new and you have it now....that's priceless. Hope you are getting a lot of enjoyment out of it.

Please tell me if I have this right:
In the low trim level (300 Deluxe?), there was a post coupe and a hardtop available with the SS package.
The SS package was also available on the Malibu hardtop and convertible, so that would make 4 cars the SS package was available on . . . right? (Not counting El Caminos, mind you!)
I'd be willing to bet the highest percentage of 3-speed cars were built on the post SS. :-)

I'd have to agree with that possibility.

Wasn't the 3-speed in the Chevelle a Saginaw unit?

They may have used the Saginaw on the small blocks and 6 bangers, but the MC1 Muncie HD 3-speed was the standard behind a 396.
