That short 1 piece spoiler continued to be what you got standard on a 71 Z28 till sometime mid. year 1971 which is when all production camaro's started getting the larger 3 piece rear spoiler. In the 1971 camaro dealer brochure it say's " The Z comes with a standard rear spoiler . Or you can special order spoilers like the one shown on the opposite page " & then shows a 3 piece rear spoiler.

Well, he did offer a quarter-million finder's fee. Money is the great motivator. Want to find a long-lost car? Offer a huge finder's fee and wa-la!

Thanks Jeffrey !
I never thought the one piece spoiler was used in 1971 since the three piece spoiler was used in 1970, even if it was COPO.

I just love where the reporter asks the former owner if he had any special memories of the Camaro himself and he replied...."Well, today!".....right after he turned over the keys to Papa John and recieved his check for $250,000! That's a lot of money! Good for him!

Wow, I'm shocked he found it. I guess with that level of advertising and promise of a large cash reward it certainly opens up doors for you. Neat story, I'm glad it worked out for everyone involved. Honestly, when I heard the reward went from 25k to 250k I figured in all likelyhood they assumed the search was going nowhere and at that point it was just for the publicity.
I wish I would have read this earlier I would have been eating for free tonight.

I got my free pizza!
25K went to the family who bought the car from him back in 1983 because they aided in finding the current owner who had it in his garage.I heard earlier they were looking for a 72 camaro,so that mistake threw a few curve balls into the hunt, when in fact it's a 71.
All told,$275K paid, and a ton of widespread free advertising.
Good for him. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif
