GM Performance Parts announces the release of the Camaro Body-In-White.
Effective Date: Immediately
Order Input: Orders will be held on "backorder" status until the assembly plant has a body to fill the order>
General Information:
Part # 19243374
Price $7,000 plus shipping
Body will be non-returnable and have no warranty.
The body will not have a Vehicle Identification Number and will not be street legal.
It will be sold as a empty shell chassis for race car building purposes>
It will be strapped to a large wooden pallet that can be moved around with a fork truck.
The body-in-white will have "swing metal" door shells, front and rear decklid, fenders, etc.
Bodies are "blemished" with minor defects.
Colors cannot be specified.
Off road use only.

Unless that's a recent release, that was news as of 2008 and before the GM Performance cuts..
I've asked here a few times if it's still available or not but haven't found out yet..
Anyone in a GM house able to run the part #?.

Just priced at a local GM dealer List is $13,345.00 my cost would be in the 10 thousand dollar range.

just released today to us! That is a GM release. As stated orders will be held on backorder status until the assembly plant has a body to fill the order. In other words they will ship when they have one that isn't worth repairing and sending out as a complete car.

As reported via email the bodies could have different color panels also.

The Swedish Camaro Cup will be fielding ten 2010 cars next year. They have got the exclusive rights by GM for Scandinavia to use this body for racing. They are built in the USA and the first car wes tested Aug 12th at Autobahn Racewat outside of Chicago.

I remember when I was a kid,maybe 15 or so, the local 'racing team guys' had a 69 or 70 Mustang 'body in white' sitting next to their shop...

just sitting there

kinda rusting away. Must have been around 1973 or so...they were Trans Am kinda- guys...never knew what happened to it...Lime Rock was nearby...
