On our trip to LA to pick up the 409 we ran across these at the LAX Hertz location. They have both coupes and convertibles, about 60 of them total at this location for about $150/day. Looks to be GM special similar to the Shelby/Hertz deals of the 60's?? They all had the typical rental car cosmetic abuse. Unfortunately we stuck with our $30/day Kia for the 4 of us.

I saw 3 of them today at Port Columbus (CMH), all fast backs.
Had a special badge on the side, Z12 or Z18, it was hard to read.

You're at the airport, just off the red eye, and headed for the car rental counter -- with a day of meetings ahead, most likely that Chevy Aveo you're about to pick up won't do much to help you stay awake. Wouldn't it be nice if you could climb behind the wheel of something a little more special? High gas prices and a faltering economy may have your supercar dreams on hold, but you can still spend some quality time driving a 400-plus horsepower road-rocket -- just rent it instead.
Renting specialty cars has become an increasingly popular pastime, and for the past two years Hertz has offered the limited-edition Shelby GT-H as part of its Fun Collection, which also includes the Nissan 350Z convertible, Hummer H3, and Jeep Wrangler, among others. But even with its engine mods the GT-H is only good for 325 horsepower and 330 lb-ft. of torque, well short of the 430 horses in the standard Corvette Avis rents through their Cool Cars program. So now to keep up in the rental horsepower wars, Hertz is introducing their own version of Bowling Green's finest -- the special-edition Corvette ZHZ.
Finished in Hertz yellow with a black stripe running down the center of the car, the Corvette ZHZ features the NPP dual-mode performance exhaust system that adds an additional six horsepower (for a total of 436), seven-spoke alloy wheels, body color door handles, a rear spoiler, and mesh exhaust plate screen. Among other extras the car also sports Hertz fender emblems, unique embroidery on the floor mats, and a ZHZ logo on the center armrest. For rental duty, the car's 6.2-liter LS3 V-8 will only be mated to the six-speed automatic with paddle shifters.
Hertz will add a total of 500 Corvette ZHZs to its 12,000-vehicle Fun Collection. At first it will only be available at airports in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle, but will roll out to a total of 24 cities in 14 states by June 16. Like all cars in the Fun Collection, the ZHZ will come with Sirius satellite radio, and renters can request it specifically when booking. So if winding out 436 horses on a lonely stretch of highway sounds good like a good way to spice up that business trip to Houston, you might want to reserve your ZHZ soon -- otherwise you may have to settle for a Shelby GT-H instead.

Looks like the one in your picture has led a pretty rough life already - the front fascia is partially torn off. As my brother says - nothing parties like a rental !

A costomer of mine in Louisville had a contract to do the conversion...they are stock, they got decals, different driving light, wheels tires and badges (they gave me a set )and they had a special muffler too from whay im told, but not sure if its a fact...heres pics of the conversions..i took them, cuz i thought this is how it must have been when they did the stripes and stuff at Yenko..kinda cool... they did 500 and get another 500 to do...2 or 3 dealerships got the contracts.
There where literaly yellow corvetes everywhere one could be put, they shipped them in did the conversions, and loaded them back up and shipped them out...see the pic of the transporter! 1 tech was doing 12 a day...they had all the techs doing them but one guy was smoking through them...

Reading the above text, it says only 500, but the manager there told me they get another 500...but...that was before the economy crashed so hard, so maybe they changed it around...only dealershipps that where the GM Performance retailer, in individual zones, got to do the conversions...I am positive the dealership told me THEY where doing 500 though....maybe not, i was kinda excited when i saw all the HISTORY happening in one of my costomer shop!...i thought it was cool..

FUNNY thing the ZHZ emb..the techs where putting them on eye level..like the Z06 emb...the project supervisor ( a suit guy from i guess Hertz...not sure) said they didnt look right so they peeled them back off and and made them follow the fender ...contour line...they really look odd running down hill..in my opinion, you can see in the pics the early conversions the emb is eye line straight...

"they got decals, different driving light, wheels tires and badges (they gave me a set )and they had a special muffler too from whay im told"
Wow... what did the dealers do with the 500 mufflers and 2000 wheels / tires??
Cool concept! Dig it!
