x Baldwin Motion

anyone that can do a quick look at a 69 nova in Riverside CA. Just need to make sure it is a running solid driver. No real Nova expertise required. Deadline tomorrow.
Thanks.

10-01-2009, 06:11 AM
Rob I remember when you got that granny nova and the recent photos and video in the for sale section was a real motivator in making this purchase decision. The plans include an engine upgrade (probably a small block) and possibly a 5 speed trans. Budget will dictate how much gets done this winter.
The CA black plates match the orig title and hopefully it will be delivered in time for a local show in two weeks. I am hoping to get it done just a little faster than NJ Steve's Trans Am http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The photographers that shot the car were very careful to leave out the more undesirable aspects of the vehicle. Interior is completely shot (we kinda guessed that) and a couple of small dents also escaped the camera lens.
Sadly my son is wondering how I convinced him to purchase this http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif and wants to trade for my Chevelle.
I believe it is 75000 original miles because I have never heard a 307 run so good http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif I have more pictures but I am babysitting my granddaughter now and will try to post this evening.
I need a 745 Interior. Dark green bench. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

The black plates look like they haven't been moved in 40 years. Old plastic frame remnants acting as washers under screw caps.

I pulled both motors and trannys tonight. Short story is the Nova's motor is worn, dried out and dirty and almost burst into flames. Long story is, the kid spent a gear/clutch in my Chevelle, he was using it while I went over the Nova. I am giving him my motor while I explore my transmission options.
I know the 65/50 on the firewall is the paint. what is the "M" ?

Okay, got the 350 in and running nice. Finished up the exhaust today and Mike did some touching up of the grill. Still trying to convince him not to paint it. We start the interior this week.

I would keep it this way for a few shows. Not many people get to see a car this original, with original paint. Even if it has a bad sunburn. You can spray with wd-40 and wipe it down, to help keep the look without further rust progression.

I like spray it with WD40 !! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
We started to yank the interior today. The original owner may have subscribed to the Italian myth that throwing change in the car is good luck. There were several pre 1969 coins that had very sharp edges stuck deep under the carpet. A few other items that I will photograph as we go along.
As for a second set of seat belts for the shoulder harness, there is no sign they ever existed. So the occupants had the option of using lap or shoulder belts, but not both ?
anyone? I won't reinstall the shoulder straps if that is the case. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

you should really install the shoulder belts if he is going to daily drive it, one good wreck his fault or a Mommy wacking him and him eating the wheel wont be fun.

Bud, I was told there would be a second seat of seat belt receivers that I would find under the seat. Not there. Should I try to acquire and install a set? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

up to you, I wouldnt let me kid roll in one of these cars on a daily basis without holding them off the column if they crash. check out the repop belts I have been told there pretty good now or scope out ebay and Steves Nova site for some.
or find some out of 73/4 rig I think there all one piece by then?, belts are not going to kill the value but will save him if god forbid he tests them out.

old shoulder belts did have 2 receivers at the lap, kinda busy at the seat area, that's why most lost one receiver to the abyss under the seat.
