A buddy and I drove up to the Fall Carlisle Meet on Saturday. Attendance was definitely down, and so were the amount of vendors. It seemed more folks were looking (and buying) in the car corral vs. buying parts.
Took 57 pics, my heart just wasn't into it today. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That's all of the Carlisle pics. Wasn't a whole lot of nice stuff to take pictures of. In fact, there were quite a few newer cars in the car corral that you'd find in a typical used car lot.
Today, I attended a Maryland Chevelle Club Meeting at a nearby Member's house.

Rick,
Great coverage and a certainly a great party. I recognize a few of the Maryland Chevelle`s ie; Bob Wilcox and his 68. I`m surprised that Bob wasn`t doing any burnouts. He loves to show off http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

They just turned 50 years old, they sure look in better shape than I was at that age.
Thanks again for sharing.

I was there too...looking at the dealer installed 427 Chevelle....think they had that font in 1967 on a typewriter in a dealership in those days???

That is some interesting dealer paperwork on that '66 Chevelle stating "supply and install L-72". To put that solid-lifter engine in front of a Powerglide just seems wrong and I can't believe that the dealer didn't advise against that.

Weren't there a few factory 427 PG Corvettes in 66 or 67?
I would also figure if there was a dealer that "made several" of these 427 conversions he would be on the map and not an unknown... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
The car is NOT an SS with the 136 VIN, the entire story is filled with hen's teeth. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Seems I said this a week or so ago Rick - "Man, you do get around."
Maybe I'm still living in the dark ages, but I gotta ask - how does he get the Red smoke? Put residue of some sort on them or are they built that way. This enquiring mind wants to know http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

There is "red rubber" in the tread compound. At least it appears that way when they are not spinning.

+++ Chris +++ Thanks http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif for trying, just think all that space in the back, you could put a couple of 427's in there, then I'd show them what a Corvair can do with alittle " Horsey Power ", but No matter, they would still Laugh http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif at the overall Look's of the car....

I think 390- and 400-hp 1967 Vettes had the Powerglide as an option? Not till '69 was the auto available on higher-performance Vettes?

Any info on the Black L79 Nova? Thanks
markjohnson
10-09-2009, 01:50 AM
Yeah, that's all correct and that Powerglide even carried over into '68 where it was still available on the 390 HP and 400 HP 427 CID Corvettes. That 400 HP Tri-carbed engine may look pretty exotic and racey, but it was actually pretty tame with it's smooth-idle hydraulic cam (yuck!) and it's oval port heads. Kinda funny, but that engine has always reminded me of that snake that can rear up and spread it's back wide across just like a poisonous Cobra but in reality, it's just a harmless snake. Anyway, in '69, I guess they feel like they got that Turbo 400 developed enough to offer it in the high horse 435 cars and even the L-88's. Now there's the torture test!
