Just a quick note about Holly...

She was admitted to Phoenix Children's Hospital at 3am this morning...for flu-like symptoms. Due to her past problems with renal function...it looks like they are going to keep her for a few days http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Her creatinine and potassium levels are high (high potassium can cause arrythmias...and creatinine not being 'cleared' out of the blood is a sure sign that the kidneys aren't working like they are supposed to)

Mom and Holly are spending the night there again tonight...and we'll take shifts from then on.

On top of that...on the way to the hospital this evening, we experienced a sidewall blowout on the freeway! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Someone was watching over Lynn and I...as we were able to get the truck stopped without a problem...and with the help of a DPS officer (my back has been hurting for a few days and I was laid up all day today) we changed the tire quickly. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

In '95 my father-in-law had a cardiac event (heart stopped) in John Wayne Airport and went to the floor (near the rental car counters by the big statue). The Sheriff's Deputy close by saw him go down and got the EMT's there and they hit him with the paddles on the way to Irvine Medical Center, where they brought him back (he was gone for over 11 minutes total). My wife was contacted right away, and we jumped in the car for the 15 minute drive down the 405 with my her on the rosaries the whole way. The intensity with which she was communicating was impressive. He came through it and is still here today.
There was a great deal of concern for the brain swelling, and we were warned if he survived, it could well be in a vegitative state.

I will never underestimate the power of prayer. Hang in ther Holly!

I feel that I am letting Holly "down" with my own stupid back problem...but it hurts so bad at times that I cannot move.It's also putting a strain on Lynn...as we aren't able to switch out very well being with Holly.

So, about 2am this morning the switch was made. The kidney doc also came in...and it looks like Holly will be there for a while (a week or so?)as they don't want to sent her home only to relapse...her creatinine and potassium levels are back up...along with her blood pressure.

That's unbelievable! But unfortunately, it's way too common. I don't know what is going on in the health industry but this type of mistake is being made way too often. I hope she starts doing better real soon and keep us updated, we're all thinking about you guys!

Thank you for all of your get well wishes.I read every one of them.

I am bored here in the hospital but I am feeling a little bit better than I was yesterday. They are going to do an echo on my heart to make sure that its okay.

They gave me a medication for my blood pressure but when I took it it gave me headaches which hurt real bad. It made my mom mad enough to make them change it

I found out yesterday that they had internet here in the hospital so my dad brought up the laptop so that I can watch movies and we can check emails

My dads back is feeling a little better, too.

She is beaten down and tired...and still has to go to work...in fact she is at work now...and should be at the hospital by 3pm.

So...here is the latest update from here at Phoenix Children's Hospital:

Holly will be here at least through tomorrow-and here's why. Her creatinine levels went back up...then went down to almost normal levels...which is good! But no one besides me noticed that she was still on the IV drip ( I even questioned why yesterday)...so her creatinine could be reading low because of the extra fluids being pumped in.

She will be able to go home tomorrow-

IF-her creatinine level stays down
IF-she tolerates the new blood pressure medication
IF-her blood pressure stays at a manageable level
IF-she doesn't have nausea
IF her potassium level stays where it is now

Lots of if's...but all very hopeful ones!

Holly had a "slight" detour early this morning...at about 2:45am, She woke up nauseous and hot! Not wanting to take any chances...off to Phoenix Children's Hospital we went. She was seen immmediately...and was given something for the nausea andwas given IV fluids again as well.

They ended up letting her come home at about 7am this morning....and they think that the reason that his happened is that she had a reaction to the TWO flu shots that she got...the H1N1 and the regular flu shot.

I talked to Bruce last night. He said that Holly wasn't feeling well and was going to check with the Cardiologist. Let's hope she is in and out quick.

Reid is correct. We got to Phoenix Children's Hospital about 10pm last night...and we were finally admitted at 4:45am this morning.

Holly has some swelling going on in the bottom part of her legs and it is painful...so they have already checked cardiac function...and I would assume they will now concentrate on renal function (though her urine output is good).

Holly is relaxing at watching TV...and I am loopy...having had about 35 minutes sleep since Wednesday AM...

I have to at least stay alert until Lynn is done at work...which should be by 3pm. Staying alert shouldn't be that big of a problem...as we have a 3 year old that's sharing the room with us...and she's not happy right now http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

I don't know you or your family, but, it is so obvious you are very special and you come from good 'stock'. I have two girls and they are the most precious gifts in my life as I know you are to your Mom and Dad.

Hey guys (and gals). Holly was able to come home last night late. SHe is still swollen and her legs still hurt (and the docs still aren't sure what caused this)...BUT, all of her major organs are doing what they are supposed to...and quite well...so the docs aren't really concerend. Well..we had a bit of a detour last night after Pavillions. We took Holly to the cruise in grandma's wheelchair so she could keep the weight off of the leg that was bothering her.

When they got home from Pavillions...she was in severe pain again...so they went to John C. Lincoln Hospital... (I stayed home this time). They did ultrasounds on her legs, x rays on her legs, dopplers on her legs among other stuff.

They got home at 4:15am this morning...and are still sleeping.
