I just bought a California 1965 GTO with a current California registration showing the original black plates. The plates have a 2010 expiration sticker. Does anybody know what I have to do to keep the plate and registration current on the car in Indiana?
I heard it is allowable but, don't know what to do. Thanks, Ed
Maybe,if Indiana is anything like Illinois YOM plate program.
We can acquire brand new modern day antique license plates issued through our Secretary of State, then keep them under the front seat with the registraton and proof of insurance, while we hang ANY states license plates from the past on it,so long as they are the same Year Of Manufacture as the vehicle is.

For real!!?? The YOM plates from another state you hang on the car are NOT registered with your state??!
okay, I couldn't wait and had to google, that appears to be corect!!
Yup....just keep the newly issued Il. ANTIQUE vehicle,(the car has to be at least 25years old and used for show/parades only),registered license plates somewhere in the car at all times,in case you're pulled over, and you can hang any states plates so long as they are the same year of your vehicle.
Many states are doing this today but you have to follow each states specific rules.

I have the YOM plates here in NY on my 65 Chevelle but they are the plates that appear on the registration and windshield sticker. Only NY plates are allowed. ( see my method to keep my California black plates on the Nova here) (http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/423150/an/0/page/4#Post423150)
