They are holding out on the Protecto Plate, build sheet and and John Force butt imprints that are all with the seat cushion. They are holding that for ransom and think they can get even more $$$ out of that with the John Force ties.

Some of those questions are from people that sound like they'd like to purchase it and give it back to original owner/builder. It would be nice to see that happen. Somebody had a lot of time invested in that thing for the Minnesota Nazi Continuation Party to seize it in a vehicle forfeiture. They didn't need to take that away from him. That's ridiculous and greedy. Forfeiture of personal property is a very bad thing and the beginning of a very bad form of government. Watch out!

Last time I checked the rules about a DUI they didn't take your car so why would they take his chair!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif
In the picture auction they keep answering something like, "thanks, glad people know the man behind the chair". The only thing that I read was that he is a US Navy veteran. So, I must be missing something, what is the story of the man? I take it he must of drag raced it or something?
I know what a DUI means but what is a DWI?

Driving While Intoxicated.
Here we refer to it as a "deuce" (sorry Marlin) from "502" the MVCode.
JB
What is the difference between DUI, Driving Under the Influence, and DWI, Driving While Intoxicated?
I guess DWI is you were drinking booze, and DUI is you were taking something that could have been drugs, or booze.
Correct?
Anyways, why should anyone help a guy that broke the law?

Around here if one gets busted more than once they can loose their car that was used.
My assistants husband lost his 2 year old Chevy truck last year this way. She has peronalized whisky plates on her mini van from it now too. But the new used truck that he has now has normal plates on it.

Well John, you know what......I'm all for the "do the crime, do the time, pay the fine or both" but I'm strongly against the the government seizing private assets from it's citizens. That is blatantly wrong and a sure sign of a government overstepping it's bounds. You put somebody in jail if they are a hazard to society. You DON'T take things away from people and their families. It is wrong on many levels.

Kim, this is just a guess based on my history, if you are operating an uninsured, unregistered motor vehicle on a public road and get pulled for a violation your vehicle is impounded ( mine was). It will not be returned until it is street legal registered. I would imagine if you throw a DWI/DUI in the mix with current new forfeiture laws you'll be looking for a new squat.
PS. my off road motorcycle had no papers and i lost it to the man in 1975

"they" yank cars of people transporting "undocumented workers" and virtually anything used in a crime.
I am NOT a law enforcement official but I do understand personal responsibility ...
IF there is a law that you have broken and are caught then you have to suffer the consequences of all the specifics that that law states in the state/city/county/country/whatever where you broke it
according to the info posted this particular seizure was the result of an accident with a parked vehicle
again, I have no 1st hand knowledge of this person, his actions or anything else other than according to the info the seizure happened in 08.
In AZ you lose your car from repeated drunk driving citations.

Most of the laws today don't make sense. In Iowa if you hit a deer with your car the state doesn't own it. But shoot one with out a hunting license. Your looking at 2500.00 fine lost of your gun, truck and what ever else they can steal from you. DUH DUH DUH!!

So how much have you bid on the chair? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif

property crime forfeitures are about greedy governments after money and have nothing to do with punishment. Forfeitures of property should be held to provable ill-gotten gains, ie: drug money or similar. Taking ones property because of dui or racing is theft.

The thing is wayyyyyyyyy out of my price range. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif
I think that yahoos are bidding it up for fun. I am willing to bet that the high bidder walks. I also think that the City will pursue charges on the high bidder. I mean, who would pay 40k or more for that thing? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

DUI recliner on, off & on eBay

11/4/2009
It was expected to fetch a big chunk of money.
But now police in Minnesota have to start from scratch in their effort to auction off a motorized recliner used by a man who pleaded guilty to driving the chair drunk.
The Proctor police department had put the recliner up for bids on e-Bay, but had it listed as a La-Z-Boy recliner. But because the recliner isn't made by that company, e-Bay told the department it would have to be re-listed.
The chair as first listed had drawn bids of more than $43,000 dollars. But by yesterday, bids were only a fraction of that amount. (ccg)"
