I have been experiencing a problem when I open up Internet Explorer for the first time. When Internet Explorer first opens to my home page I get a pop-up that says something about a "Search Provider Default" and the verbiage states that a program on my computer has been corrupted, yada, yada, yada. I close that pop-up and then a new pop-up appears and it's a "Manage Add-Ons" screen. I close that out and everything works fine.
I have run Spy-bot and have an up to date Anti-Virus program running on my computer but, this problem still persists.
Can anyone offer some suggestions on how to correct this? It doesn't really affect how the computer runs (as far as I can tell); it's more of a nuisance.

I have tried to attach a print screen of the pop-ups that are showing up but, the document is too large.

Try this... seems to work for many people...

1) Make sure IE 8 is closed then navigate to registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

2) Add a new “Expandable String value” inside the above mentioned key with a value name of “AppData” and a value data of “%USERPROFILE%\Application Data”.

3) Reopen IE 8 and see if you still get the error message.

This came from:

Or if you still want to use a PC at least don't use Internet Explorer. There are other browsers that are better and quicker than IE, for example Firefox or Apples Safari for Windows (it is 8 times faster than IE8) One other benchmark, IE8 is 21% accurate in showing HTML and CSS, Safari is 100%

Jan, a very satisfied Mac user. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

Yup, he's a PC Nerd. He does not use IE either, I think it's Mozilla Firefox?
