Removing Paint Drip

You know when you do one of those really stupid moves that you could just kick yourself for??? Well I did one!

I am doing a cosmetic restoration of my 1928 Model A. I was doing some touch up on the block with Ford Green paint. I had sprayed a bit of paint in a spray paint cap....

Well, the cap had a wee hole in it!!! #@%&$!! I dripped paint on the fender!!

Mind you, the car is not a show car, but it is a decent driver! There are some spidering cracks and other issues with the paint. Overall the patina is kind of nice on a 80 year old car.....

Here is my question, how do I get the paint drip removed?? Buffing?? Wet sanding?? Help!

What kind of paint was it ? If it was rattle can crap try some mild solvent like mineral spirits, or prep solvent first.

On small runs or in your case a drip we take a paint stick or something similar and just knock down that high spot very carefully trying not to do too much sanding to the original paint, when it gets down close to the OE paint or the repaint you can now sand it by hand working the same area. Now you can polish it with some compound 5974 3M or by hand and then some 3M finesse. It is very easy just need to take some time. Good luck.

It was rattle can. Seems like some pretty tough paint though! What I don't want to do is damage the paint on the car further.....

Berger, What is a 'paint stick'? Would you wet sand?
