With the thread about the L89 nova and the mention of the Chevelles, it made me remember of a car from years ago. Does anyone know if there was a green w/white stripe '70 L89 alum. head Chevelle in the Bristol Pa area back in the early 90's??

It is worth the membership fee just for the humor and sometimes ridiculousness that happens on this site(is that a word?) haha

And totally free and extar is all of the vast amount of knowledge that I have gained from some of the people that have been there and done that !!! People that can walk the walk, if you know what I mean!!

So anyway, the reason that I am asking is because I may have a sad story about this car. After reading this thread,I got to thinking about my friend back in the late 80's/early 90's. He had told me about a factory original aluminum head 396/402 motor that was for sale for $500. He mentioned that he knew the owner of the original car the motor came out of also. Unfortunately, back then 500 bucks was a lot, so I never pursued it.
After reading the Nova thread, I decided to seek out my old buddy. My brother found him and spoke to him today. He said that he never bought the motor, but the car back then was actually owned by a body shop in Bristol, Pa. And that it had a small block in it. Then he told me the car was green with white stripes SS396.
At that point, I almost swallowed my tongue. When I asked him the name of the bodyshop, He told me Carango Motors on Route 13, I almost cried. The thing is, I bought a green w/white SS396 car from that very shop way back then. I paid 900 bucks for tha car that ran graet and had a small block in it. The car had cowl induction, buckets, 4 speed, 12 bolt, tach, etc. I believe it had cragars all the way around and 60's in the back at the time. The reason I got the car so cheap was it had a rusty frame.
I took the car to the E'town swap meet that year and completey parted it out and left a shell of a car sitting there. I made a killing on the car.
Now I am going to try and track down the motor, but I was wondering if anyone remembers this car.

What year did you part out that car at Englishtown? I have a BE rear that was purchased at the Englishtown swap meet about 12 years ago and I would love to find out who sold it and what it came from. The guy I purchased it from bought it at the swap meet and never used it. The rear has 5:13 gears in it so you know it came from a 1/4 mile car with a killer big block most likely.
