Up north here we probably get between 10c and 16c in winter. We have the odd frost up here but no snow and a bit of rain, it does get a lot colder in the South Island though.
We are still able to get our old cars out during the winter and do some club cruises etc.
We start our drag racing season on the first Sunday in September, which is Father's Day here, the weather is starting to get nicer and a bit warmer then.

No we don't have to, and I would not want to, change to RHD.
We do have some strange rules though, such as you don't have to convert to RHD provided the car is over 20 years old. To bring a new car in and keep it LHD you have to have owned the car and stayed in the US for at least 3 months.
We also get cheap registration fees for cars over 40 years old, less than half of the normal fee.
