I tell 'ya......calling these 35-40 year old phone numbers is not as ridiculus of an idea as it might seem! It is a legit lead and a clue to present day whereabouts more often than you might think. I know some people that have been very successful in doing this.

my dad and my stepmother played in a bridge club with a guy that had a Cheetah.i remember seeing the car in his garage.
it was in the classifieds in Hot Rod back in the early 70's.
i believe he wanted $2500 for it.

My parents have lived in the same house since 1963. Their phone number hasn't changed, just the area code 3 times.
My parents also,since 1959.
I knew a few older couples here, that were still leasing their rotary telephones from Illinois Bell.
During the 1990's they were notified to stop doing that,at the beckoning of their neighbors.
Seems good ole Ma Bell wasn't about to inform them, nor enlighten them..

Rooting around the shop one day (1978?) i came across a 5 year old selling post paper, a 1968 amx, $1800, it was local. I called, guy got fed up trying to sell this oddball rambler and stuck it behind the house, still there? YEP!
but lost the paperwork, $200 and some razzle dazzle at dmv.
