Nice original red STP gas treatment dispenser rack that was hung in autoparts stores and repair shops during the late 1960's to late 1970's.This has a mount to hang on through a hook in the wall, and measures 15" X 11" and is 3" deep. They debuted the "NEW" gas treatment cylinder cans in 1966,so that's as early a date as I can put on it.In 1970-71 they came out with a cone top cane, that will NOT fit in this rack, only the 8oz.cylinders will. All eight of the 8oz. cannisters are included and are full, never opened.
Some cans have light storage wear, but nothing unusual.
Cans are dated variously 1966-73.
The metal rack & sign itself are clean and dent free.No scratching or fading. It's been in a box for the last 30 years..
A very nice vintage, respectable & seldom seen display.
I'm asking $400 and money back return if not satisfied.

I thought STP meant ''saves the parts''. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

That's what we used to call STP back in the day.

Ha! Way back when (in sixties...yup, I'm ancient), there was an old goofy tale in the Canadian prairies that STP was built from the ashes of the old Studebaker company. And "STP" stood for "Studebaker Tickled Pink". http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Anyway, very neat display item.

Although not as Wayne's tale above, there was an association between Studebaker and STP..
Our friends were a Stude dealer to the end (actually still operating today too) and years ago they showed me the original tiny jar of STP product sent to them by Studebaker Packard Corp. when SPC owned STP...late 50's/very early 60's I believe?.

Very Chttp://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gifhttp://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gifL piece Rick!.

That's true.
The early sTp 8oz. cyl. cans declare "a product of Studebaker" as their manufacturer on the lower back bottom.
Sometime around 1969-70,they dropped that per owner Andy Granatelli I believe.

So the cans that have the word MAGIC above the STP name and marked Studebaker-Packard must be from the earlier 60's than the one you posted Rick?.

Ever seen or heard of the little glass jars of STP?.
They may've been samples and not retail items?.

Back when we were kids, we used to pester the guys at the gas station for theie STP stickers almost daily.

STP to us meant 'Stinky Toilet Paper'

I had 2 of these and sold the first shown here.
I will sell the 2nd display, which has a 2nd alternative way to hang it via 2 curved hooks,as well as the circular collar in back as shown on this one for $350.It is identical in condition and contents to this one.

Pics of this one.
Notice the 2 curved hooks on top which allows you to hang it like so..
