I am looking for any detailed pictures of a 68-72 Nova with the deluxe rocker trim moldings. I was looking to see how the semi-gloss black was painted from the factory. All I have to work with is an older restoration and they seemed to eliminate the upper molding. They left the rocker molding intact to cover up what was left of the rocker panel intself. (Glad I know how to cut and weld) Evidence in the fender and the remnants of the trim studs on the door tell me that the car originally came with the upper moldings. And any help with where to find the clips to install the moldings.

I am also looking for any pictures of a 735 or 737 interior out of a 69 or 70 Nova. Just want to make sure what I have is correct.

Thanks a million.

Jed, there was a great article in Nova Times a few years back showing the install and paint application for the lower rocker moldings and trim. I'll try to post some pics of a couple of our cars that have it....may be easier to email them to you, since the files are probably too big. As for the interior stuff...the 737(n/a in 1970) was a deluxe blue bucket seat and the 735 a std. blue cloth. Are you working on 2 different cars or just looking at options...the std. interior would have different door panels and a rubber floor mat.

Thanks Tom. Did the black stop at the edges of the door but part of the rocker sill was painted black on the inside jam? I am not 100% sure how it was? This is my 1st Nova that has ever had the deluxe trim. I am working on a 69 Nova that was originally Glacier Blue with a White top and 735 interior. I know the aftermarket doesn't supply presewn cloth seatcovers and only offers the 736 or 737, both 69 and 70. I want to keep the blue interior as standard as possible without having covers made or door panels.

I may also change the exterior colors to Fathom Blue and Astro Blue? 70 colors, but Dusk blue and Glacier blue are almost the same. Any opinions?

The color does wrap around inside the sill...contact Wayne at NNN for the pics or what issue it was in...you may have the magazine already...you are a member, yes http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I can take some close ups for you if you need them...let me know. SMS probably has the fabric...any good shop can do the seats. As for door panels...I know you can get black std....they could always be dyed, I guess.

The only years I have are 2008 and part of 09. I'm a little slow with the subscription this year.

I am looking for pictures of how the black was sprayed on. Particularly inside the door jams.

I am also looking for all of the various clips that hold the dekuxe trim on above the rocker panel moldings. I know that there were trim rivets on the door and quarter. The fender had 3 bolt on fasteners. I only have one of the clips for the rear rocker extension molding. I could take a picture of that if you'd like?

Thanks again.

Hi all, I am hoping someone can help me out. I have a 69 Nova SS L78 that I am restoring. I am ready to paint the rockers and I have been searching the web for picture, articles, or anything to help me figure out how to do it. I came across the questions in this thread asking what I need to ask:

"I am looking for any detailed pictures of a 68-72 Nova with the deluxe rocker trim moldings. I am looking for pictures of how the black was sprayed on. Particularly inside the door jams. I am also looking for all of the various clips that hold the deluxe trim on above the rocker panel moldings. I know that there were trim rivets on the door and quarter. The fender had 3 bolt on fasteners. I only have one of the clips for the rear rocker extension molding. I could take a picture of that if you'd like?"

The quarters were replaced 25 years ago and I have no idea exactly where the two trim pieces behind the rear tire go or how they were fastened (without guessing). Close up pictures would help. This along with the answers to the questions ask above would be great.

I would appreciate any advice or pictures you could e-mail or text me.

Thank you

The M 3 means there are 3 exterior trim options....most likely brite window trim and the rocker package...if you send me an email I can help you with the info you are looking for. [email protected]

Thanks for the reply. I spoke with Tom W. today and he refered me to Wayne Bushey of National Nastalgic Nova. I will call him tomorrow. If needed I will also try Ken S. Thanks again!

I want to give a big thanks to Tom W and Wayne Bushey. Wayne was able to supply me with the 2005 article on exactly how an original car had the black lower body painted. I painted mine and it turned out nice. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/youguysrock.gif

Ken...Wayne did the article based on my 68 Butternut Yellow BB car. We added the brite window moldings and rocker trim with blackout...he documented the process and then featured it in Nova Times.

I'll post a photo when I can dig one up.
