No doubt...but very pricey.

I run the Hooker 1 7/8" Super Comps on mine and they work well and clear everything nicely.

John, are you sure of the size? Especially on a 302.Jeff

YEP, John is right. The Hooker SC's fit fine. I know the tube size is a little large but they do fit easy with no dinging on my car. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

I remember a book I had on setting up a crossram 302 with 140 cam and they recommended 1-7/8" to 2" headers because of of all the CFM from the carbs. The Stahls are best but I would run the 1-7/8" hookers if it was me.

Stahl step headers would be one of the best out there.

A little to expensive for the street IMO. Remember they are going to be corked up most of the time. Not going to feel much difference with a restricted exhaust. Besides Jerry Mac and the Stock Eliminator boys are running a different brand of header this year. I forget the name he told me but it is an improvement over the Stahls. Even more expensive too. $36-$3,800 I think he told me. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

It really depends what your looking for? what is the sole purpose of your car? I have found a large majority of cars are more in the general use (ie) look good sound good have decent power go to shows and to the track every century... if your drag racing is a different story and if its a track day car is a different story.... If you have a X ram car with 3:73 gears on the street its a slug on the bottom end period! no way around it, you can wind it up and let it go and feel great but that combo produces no torque. I have run a large majority of combinations on the dyno and for max power in and out the bigger the better, BUT a big thing is that what people do not see and or understand is that because it makes big power on the dyno does not mean it will in your car or application, A engine in one relm does not mean its great in another, one thing I have always done is ask the question to my customers is what are your intensions what do want? the best of both worlds are hard to meet and even worse with a large cfm small torque engine... I guess I have a book full of questions before I possibly think of a answer...

A pretty good answer to me! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Catch up with Kerry screen name PlumL78 here He runs a crossramed 69 z and has it down to a science. Handsdown the strongest street one you will ever encounter.

Yes, definitely talk to him, he has his setup sorted out really well and puts a lot of miles on it each year as well.

HI EVERYONE, I DON'T WANT TO CUT OFF MY COLUMN REVERSE LOCKOUT ARM FOR CLEARANCE. SOMEONE STATED THAT THE OLD VERSION (106) STAHL'S WILL FIT W/POWERSTEERING, BUT ONLY IN 1 5/8". THANKS EVERYONE, GREATLY APPRECIATED! JEFF

For a streetbound 302, a 1 5/8" primary pipe is ample. If it's a race oriented deal, 1 3/4" or maybe a 1 7/8" pipe on a 7500+ rpm mill might eek out a few extra hp at the top of the curve.

I built a very mild street-oriented 302 crossram below in 2006 for a customer (pictured with his engine after the final dyno pull), and it made an easy and honest 377 HP with absolutely no tuning whatsoever using nothing more than a set of Hedman p/n 68270 1 5/8" street headers. (I can't guarantee everything will fit w/o any mods, but these pipes were pretty popular with the gang over on the camaros.net forum.)

Bigger ain't always better, esp. when it comes to headers.

Click here (http://www.vintagemusclecarparts.com/pages/302crossram1.html) if you'd like to read about the build. There's a short dyno video clip at the end as well.
