So I was looking at this '69 and found out that the VIN doesn't match the Cowl Tag.
Vin: 124379N709835
Cowl Tag : 307046
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet...5fCarsQ5fTrucks (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-Camaro-SS-1969-Chevy-Camaro-SS-X-11-Original-Orange-combination_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem20af5050a9Q QitemZ140380229801QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks)
Completely wrong ranges.
VIN is a Mid NOV range and the cowl tag is a 01A
I bet the car had a 6cylinder VIN, so it was swapped for a V8 VIN.
My suggestion is to not buy this car. Run as fast as you can http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Actually, if the driver's door is original to the car, then it is probably the tt that was changed, not the vin. Definitely one or the other; possibly both. Need to check the hidden vin's against the one on the dash.

My guess with the wrong brake booster-master cylinder setup and the ten bolt rear end that someone added that Trim Tag. If you had a real SS you would already have the correct brake booster so there would be no need to add what you see on the car now.

This one too:

The VIN (listed) 124379N670533
http://image7.autorevo.com/724/pics/755016_169f438a-56b2-4720-8d07-fea906bf98f2.jpg
The VIN is for 08A 1969, but the trim tag "body sequence number" is an 08A 1968 number. This cheater didn't do their homework.
Am I off base here?

VIN 124679N692929 is 9E for 69
Body number is 141356 which is 9e for 68 range

This car has the same issue of 9E tag not matching the VIN. Sorry folks...there were 2 9E tags that year.

I think this Camaro was built at the extremely rare North Branch, MN plant.

Nothing wrong here at all. BDY numbers were re-set to 100001 as of VIN N670xxx. VIN is in range for 08A.

I'd like to retract my comments bout those being fakes, but the edit feature says my time has expired. At least you've cleared up the discrepancies, but my first post still stands.
Thanks,

Was X11 an SS code? I thought that it was just the style trim package that any non-SS car could get. Dash has ac vent, firewall doesn't look like it has the condenser. I'm no expert, but my guess is the trim tag is bogus. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Like William said: BDY reset. Here is my 08A tag with an even lower number:

Lynn,
That's a low one! Your VIN must be close to 124379N670000.
The reset is something that I didn't know and that's why I'm glad somebody pointed it out. I can understand why they reset it (probably to have a standard of always resetting in August), but without the VIN to match with the cowl tag the numbers can get confusing. It would have been less confusing and kept the numbers further apart if they reset on 07A. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Plus I hadn't read about the resetting of the numbers before.
If I could go back and edit my previous posts on "calling out" the owners of those cars I would. I hope I didn't cause any grief. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

X2. I never heard of it before either. Am I correct in assuming that these are the elusive "1970" Camaros?
Damn. Looks like the GM Photo Store doesn't appear to have the picture of the 1970 plated 69 anymore...

What about this "numbers matching" 69 Z28 listed on eBay?
http://i.ebayimg.com/07/!!fq3-6QBGE~$(KGrHqMH-CsEtrjEoZm1BLcDQFG3tw~~_4.JPG
http://i.ebayimg.com/05/!!fq3+LgBWE~$(KGrHqUH-CUEthcbLDClBLcDQvDsD!~~_4.JPG
Shouldn't the BODY number range to match this VIN be somewhere between 200000 and 211000?

Actually, this car, 124379N670533 is a real Z. My father owned this car from '70 thru '78. If you look at the ad for Texas Musclecars, the guy states the #. The trans is from a '72 Camaro made in Los Angeles. The original owner of the car removed the original M21 before my dad got it. It was special ordered with a '70 color. The paint is the original tag color, but is incorrectly done with black stripes. Thanks!
