well i got to the bottom of the 70 COPO situtation from last Friday. It turns out the guy that told me about the car was mistaken or maybe puffin' a little. When my friend returned from the Hot Rod Show today I asked him about his COPO. He told me he did not own a COPO his car is just a real nice 396 4 speed with only 9,000 miles on it. He keeps it covered to maintaim it's orginality as much as possible. Sorry for stirring the pot.

It never hurts to ask about a rare car. It is pretty amazing how some stories tend to get "embellished" when we want to think we located something really rare. If it was a COPO and your friend wasn't willing to let someone look at it then it would still be just another story. Glad you found out more info and still sounds like an interesting car. Is it an L78 396/375 hp car?

well maybe I should tell you about his 4 66 novas L79.... They are real and there; 2 are 3speeds and 2 are 4speeds.The dual quad was added by previous owner. He liked te option so he collected 3 more at swap meets jut in case he wanted them in the future. One of the three speeds is the same maroon as the Impala he sold me. i am hoping to convince him to lose interest in that car as soon as the Impala is finished.

Are you referring to the 67-69 crossram setup when you say dual quad?
