And you bought a new 69 SS396 Chevelle the year before. You saved your money for the last year and now you can afford some new 15x7 Torq-Thrust wheels for your ride. but what size tires do you get F70-15 or F60-15 ?

F70, anything larger than an "F" profile bulged on a 7" rim, that is why the 1970-1973 Z28 (and I think the Trans Am too) came with the F60 as an OEM tire (on the stock 7" rim).

The Corvette used a G70, but they were on a 8" rim.

That is my answer to your question and I am sticking to it. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The 1970 GSX and the 1971 Hi-Perf Mopar B-bodies were factory delivered with G60-15s on 15 X 7 wheels, so I'm with redalert on this one - go forth and 'G' it up.

Size Rim Width Section Width Overall Diameter Tread Width
F60/15...7”...........9.23”...........26.27”.......... .8.25”
G60/15...7”...........9.76”...........26.80”.......... .8.40"

$235 for the F's
$275 for the G's
and you dont even gain a 1/4 of an inch in width with the G's
im leaning towards the F's

For me, it's how they fill out the wheelwells. 'G's make a for a fuller looking wheelwell area on an A-body GM car (and b-body Mopar). The width is good too but the full-looking wheelwell is key for me. Gs on the back and Fs on the front would look killer too. All 60 series of course. Just my two cents.

They also put the 60 series tires on stock 14 x 7 wheels on the Hurst Olds cars. The "Polysteel" tires were used in '72.
When my friend got a '72 HO new, I realized I could put 60's on my '72 442 and saved and borrowed to buy them.
Got them at Nickey in '73.
