Nice options. Friend down the street worked at MK Chevy in the service dept back then. Good luck.

I'll say nice options... and that is just the best color offered in '66 IMO.

I love(978)Laguna Blue also. Looks like if the protecto plate is real, the car was from Fort Lee NJ??? Maybe your neighbor remembers the car???

Post a clear close up picture of the protecto plate, it will help to determine if it's real or not.

------As many know, Malcolm Konner was a huge Corvette dealer back in the day. This particular car is just optioned so heavily that it gives me pause. Very, very few 425s were delivered with an option list like this. On the other hand if the W/S was made up you would think they would have thrown leather, teak, and P/S on it too!!! Neither piece of paperwork is big enough to really scrutinize. On the other hand, our Laguna Blue 66 has even a few more options than this one and it came with all of them too, so Im on board. Actually, more than on board,,,Id love to own it. L/blue and dark blue interior is probably the years rarest combo.........Bill S

-----P.S. Just took another glance at the warrantee book. You just couldnt ask for a crispier peice of paperwork than that. It must have been in a humidor its whole life. Not doubting, in particular, just commenting!

So Bill, using your logic of colors and options I ask you this: Is it possible for a car with a vin of 9777 to have a P-o-P dated 9/15/65? If your car has all though options plus others, I guess other cars can have those options too?

The Vin number of the car is 3777 not 9777 It was built on October 23, 1965. The Option list concerned me also but I know of an identical car minus the power window and headrests and has black interior that sold new in Ohio.

Please delete my first post. I thought the vin 9k not 3k. That was an instant red flag (a 1/3 production build being sold before it was built) but since its not an issue, there is no reason for me to be concerned.

-----Let me be the first to say,,,,WOW!!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif Can I be so impertinent as to ask what kind of money is necessary to put that in your garage??? Ill understand hesitancy on your part. It seems to have gained a teak wheel, but thats certainly not a bad thing.......Bill S

The sidepipes where added the (N32)teak wheel is listed on the window sticker as being original equipment. No doubt a beautiful car just going through documenting its authenticity. He is asking 120K but working on that!!! I think that would look good next to the other blue junk in the garage.

My brother collects protecto plates and has one from Malcolm Konnor with a delivery date of 4-29-65. It's prepared completely different from this one. I don't know if it will help authenticate this one or not, but I can post a picture a little later..

Additionally, I don't like that key stamp on the window sticker. It doesn't make any sense to me for that to be on there.

Matt - I know I don't have to tell you to scrutinize this, but I was wondering about the ownership history. Pretty high profile hipo car in a great color. All of this is helpful in tracing history.

Good luck!

If I decide to go with the car I am going to contact Al Grenning's http://ccas4vettes.com/ to document the car. I dont believe anything is authentic till I can prove it is. I have already asked for owner history, looked up the address and name on protecto plate, restoration photos and place of restoration and numbers list.

Wasn't there two or three different Konner dealerships w/ at least two operating as Malcolm Konner?.

Past feature cars here include this ex C'Lil Copo Camaro that was a Konner Ohio car..

http://www.yenko.net/features/2004/February2004.htm

I think there was at least one other Konner featured Copo car here before too but either way there's been lots of Konner threads here also being they sold lots of 'Vettes, searching around may yield other cars w/ original docs to compare with?.

Good luck!.

-----Im sorry, I just missed the teak on the sticker.

-----I almost bought a black-on-black L89 69 Corvette from the Konner near Columbus, Oh. new. When I went to the dealership to look at it the car was in the service area with the heads off. Cant remember the problem, but I passed. It also had a Mod-Top type vinyl cover on the hardtop that would have scared anybody off. Eventually, I bought a riverside gold 435 from Ed Stinn.......Bill S

Neighbor started with MK in '69. Does not know this car. Said they were doing 350 Corvettes a year new and a bunch more used.

Back in the late 80's at Bloomington Gold I saw what I think was an 81 or 82 vette that was a Malcolm Konner special edition. Anyboby remember these? Ron....

Last night I talked to the original owners son. He confirmed that his late father (who was a Doctor)purchased the car from Malcolm Konner chevy in Late 65 for his cousin who was going to school and working in New York City at that time. The cousin was killed in a plane crash and the car went to Greece where his family resided. The car spent a few years in Greece and then came back to the states and was sold. He is supposed to get me some vintage pictures of the car.

MY FIRST VETTE WAS A LAGUNA BLUE WITH BRIGHT BLUE INT WITH A WHITE TOP BUT A 327-350 4 SP I REALLY MISS THAT RIDE. GREAT LOOKING CAR AND I LOVE THE COLOR AT NIGHT IT WILL ALLMOST LOOK BLACK AND DURING THE DAY WHEN THE SUN CATCHES IT JUST RIGHT YOU SWEAR THAT THERE IS SOME GREEN IN THAT BLUE, GOOD LUCK WITH THE DOC. I WOULD LOVE TO BUT IN MY GARAGE.

No order number in the upper right hand corner of that window sticker.

I myself get nervous if there is too much documentation, only from experience. I have the window sticker to my 65 L78 (otis chandler car), I have the protecto plate to my 69 L78 camaro, but rarely do I get into a situation where all docs are available. The documents should have a nice 'old smell' for sure. what I thought was cool the other day, is when I was watching a show on the history channel, one guy showed you can learn a lot about a documents 'age' and authenticity if its been folded on its self for a long time. There tends to be a transfer of images/imprint from one document side to the other, if they are old and folded. I see the window sticker looks to be folded as does the protecto plate book. I would look at that more, because these things should have been closed up for 44 yrs. the glue around my 69 protecto plate looks darker than that one (more aged?, maybe not?). I would compare with others. vintage pictures should help a lot, authenticate the side pipes, tires, etc, building a case it real. Never buy a 100K car without vintage pics, if you can help it. super cool car though. Usually with that many docs, would be stored old registrations in the same folder. Odd those are not avail.

An original window sticker should have perforations on the top and bottom as they were printed on vintage computer forms.
