My friend is currently doing a full blown restoration on a 1970 Chevelle SS LS6 South Carolina Tricentennial car.. He has the build sheet and other paperwork for the car.. He currently has the frame, rear end and chassis components completed and ready to assemble..

In 1970, Chevrolet produced a limited number of a special edition Chevelles to commemorate 300th anniversary of the founding of Charlston, SC. It is not known how many were actually made. They were painted a unique gold color, including the entire wheel.

My freind's car was the only Tricentennial Chevelle built with an LS6 engine and M22 transmission. The engine and color combination of the car may be one of a kind.

In addition to my friend's, He has been able to confirm ownership of five other Tricentennial Chevelles. Of the five other cars, four were built with a L34 engine, and one with a LS5 engine. All five had TH400 transmissions.

Build sheet for a 1970 SC Tricentennial Chevelle
Option ZP3 SPCL PAINT specifies the hood, entire body, front fenders to be painted a unique gold metallic acrylic lacquer, and the wheels gold metallic baking enamel.

Build sheet for a 1970 SC Tricentennial Chevelle
Text on the build sheet states "TAG SC TRICENTENNIAL". Box 44 has a - for the color code.

Here are some photos of what one looks like. This was taken from the internet and is not my friend's car...

Has anyone heard of these cars? Or know someone that owns one... Pretty Unique and Cool!!

Rick, I'm not sure where the LS5 car was sold from. My friend's car was sold new at Jim Connell Chevrolet in Anderson S.C.

Sam, I added some resto pics.. to the above thread..

As a 7 year old, I attended the Tri-Centennial parade in Charleston, SC in 1970 and took a number of pictures. I just need to find them to see if I got any pictures of Chevelles. I do recall some convertible Cadillacs in the parade.

w/ manual steering, I'm guessing a 4.10 rear!

Couple of weeks ago the same ad was on Craigslist here in Apache Junction, same writeup and pics as the Charleston ad. Definitely not pictures taken in AJ,east valley phone number though. The car gets around http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif

I almost posted it on here but after I did a search and saw the charleston ad and the team chevelle threads I didn't. I had never heard of them before then either.

This Chevelle shares a very similar paint shade with Hallmarks' 2008 issued X-mas ornament.
