Before I put this 442 on ebay, I thought that I would offer it to the folks here on the site. It's a 50,000 actual mile Special Order Black 442. It is equipped with Power Steering, Power Brakes, Air-Conditioning and a 4-Speed. All original drive-train, original sheetmetal, buildsheet, factory owners documents and is beautifully restored. A good friend of mine traded it to me and I'm not really an Oldsmobile guy. The car is flat out gorgeous. $40,000.00 OBO
If you're interested give me a call at 847.809.8022, Ed

Wow, really nice Ed!! Strange how black was not a standard color on the Cutlass for that one year.....
Have a friend that had a really nice black 72 cutlass survivor. Don't see many black 72's that's for sure.
If I can pick at one little detail, before you put it on E-Bay, take that 442 emblem off the glovebox and pick up a "Cutlass" emblem from one of the repo guys. It'll help if a real buyer is looking for a '72.
Clearly tons of time and cost were invested in the details & this one is easy to fix.
Good luck with the sale, beautiful car!

350 was the std. mill for the '72 Cutlass with 442 option.
455 was an additional option (std with W30)

I attached the photobucket link but, based on the calls that I've received most people missed it. Here it is again:

I believe that this car went through the Mecum Indy auction last May. If it's the same car, I apologize for all the drool I left on it.
Seriously, I'm a 442 guy and I loved the car.

Tim:
Yes, this is the car that sold at Mecum in May. My friend, Rob Ward, purchased it there. It's a really gorgeous piece. Make me a fair offer and we'll ship it to Texas! Ed http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Apparently my car is for sale on Lee's site and he didn't buy it from me? Another fellow sent me a $500.00 deposit but hasn't paid for the car. What's up with this %#$**!
So, apparently they are trying to sell my car before they pay for it. They even used my pictures. This is unbelievable.

That's why I asked if Lee bought it....I check his site at least once a week and I saw the picture of your 442 there Ed. Lee seems like a real straight shooter to me so I find this situation very unusual.

Well, I don't know Lee. However, I do know Ed and his stellar reputation. Trying to sell a car that you don't own or have the authority to sell......is ?????????

Theres a jack ash in MN that does this all the time too. They should be shot. This is what wrecks the car market.

that is so low to sell a car that isn't even yours.
i know how it feels to be an owner that has his car for sale and sees his car for sale from someone else and to boot stealing photos from my ad.
it happened when i sold my 1970 Chevelle SS 396 in late 2009.
i don't care what reputation the other guy has its just bad and low to do and makes the real owner very angry.
i hope everything works out for you in the end.
my result was a neighbor ended up buying my car right on my street the day after X-mas when i least expected to sell the car.
that's a beautiful Cutlass you have there and one day it will speak for its self when a serious buyer comes along and it will sell http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

I really wanted to give Lee the benefit of the doubt(and I don't even know him personally) buy I have to agree with the rest of you that if he doesn't own the car, he shouldn't be advertising it for sale on his website and he most certainly should not be using Ed's pictures without Ed's permission.

guys, if there flipping it so what, someone Lee knows is running it through his shop, it's done plenty all over the country everyday , anyone here could have bought the car and chose not to, what is wild is using the pictures , and not even having paid for it yet is the topper. Lee probably assumed the cat owned the car?.

Here's a copy of the e-mail sent to me by John Aldridge, the fellow who bought the car, dated April 8th.
My response to Lee after he asked if he needed to contact you after the email I sent him with a copy to you re the issue with finishing my car. No response from Lee. I don't blame you for being upset but I did not list your car for sale. I don't know how the pictures got on the site. You never sent them to me. John
I decided to not sell the 442 given the circumstances and John agreed with me. Enough said, Ed
