Is this the same one that was sold a few years back? I thought I remember her coat was in the back seat yet too along with her helmet.

Brotherhood Raceway was only a few minutes from me, so I tested cars out there from time to time. I'm a little too pale to be in with that click, but it was a neat place to do the straight line thing until some idiot, about to be tried or sentenced, can't remember which, on child molestation charges, decided not to apply his brakes at the end of his run. That was the end of him, his Mustang, and Brotherhood Raceway (shortly thereafter).

Terminal Island, not far from the Vincent Thomas Bridge toll booths. Shut down in '95 (second time). There was talk a couple years ago about reopening, but it never did. Fun place, but a lot of bangers.

Interesting thread on the car with the story of the "barn find".

[/ QUOTE ]I raced there every weekend for quite a while (bottom 11 second 64 Vette, and tribute 68 Camaro "Grumpy's Toy IV"), and didn't see any banger activity. Big Willie would not tolerate any drama, and everyone that attended knew that. There may have been some that had the look, but, the behavour(sp) had to be left at the gates.

[/ QUOTE ]Thanks man. I was very proud when Big Willie himself presented it to me. In the 60's, as a kid in New York, I'd see the guys in Socal, in the magazines wearing those jackets. I thought, wow, there can't be a cooler name for a car club. Not knowing that I'd some day become a member. I know a LOT of people out there frown on street racing, and rightfully so. But, many sanctioned racing evolved from street racing, like it or not. In the 70's-80's, when I street raced, it was in the wee hours of the morning, in industrial parks, with absolutely no intersecting side streets, and we safely policed ourselves. If someone did something un-safe, they were told to leave, and to be welcomed back next week if they abided our rules. BUT, they were "DONE" for that night. The crap that goes on today, that's labeled street racing, is nothing more than vehicular stupidity, and an insult to what I did. Thanks again for the words, much appreciated.
Sorry, I just felt compelled to share before someone gave me crap for being a Street Racer http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

-----In my youth around Cleveland one place guys used to street race was in the back paved yard at Terex (subsidiary of GM). A good friend of mine nicknamed "Mr.Mopower" used to work at Terex and had a stage three 63 Plymouth that Arlen Vanke set up. He used to make as much money out back during lunch-hour as working some weeks......Bill S
