Can you imagine the staging duels?

Wilkerson mentioned the staging thing yesterday and made reference to heading to the 'Circus' when he won at Gainesville. Personally, I don't like it. Just another marketing fiasco for NHRA and Bruton. Fewer actual races and most likely more TV hype and sponsorship plugs.

I still go back and watch the earlier races I have on VCR tapes. Remember Diamond P on TNN? Those were the GOOD times when the coverage was about racing.

It is a neat...but just too much to watch. I'd just rather two run at a time.

Yes, I was watching yesterday too. It was a little too much to watch at one time, but I enjoyed it. It did seem to go through the field a little quicker.

Amen!!! Steve Evans, McClellan and Bob Frey!!! That was the golden age of television coverage!!!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

I agree, it was too difficult to watch. They tried to explain the staging thing, but they failed to properly explain the blue light (was it pre-stage or staged when the blue came on?)

My thoughts exactly! Must have sounded great in person. That being said, I have serious reservations about safety with four cars on the track at the same time. Recipe for disaster. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. I hope I'm wrong. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I was there all day Saturday. The sound and feel of 32,000 horsepower going down the track at one time was something to experience. I know most of the drivers didn't like it but the fans did.
