About five years ago I had an opportunity to buy an ulra low mileage orig owner RS/Z. Many of you that know me understand that is my passion. Well to fund the purchase I had to sell this car: http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showflat...87c3f#Post90865 (http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=90865&page=0&vc=1&PHPSES SID=19f409176116c22f02fb9d7732387c3f#Post90865)

Well the owner of the survivor car had a change of heart, and that fell through. That was bad enough, however I had sold my restored car (to fund the purchase). So I ended up without either car. Almost immediately I called the new owner of my car, but he declined my offers.

Well as luck would have it I received a call from him last week and I now own the car I spent 5 years restoring. It has only been driven 11 miles since I had sold it.

Nice!
You're lucky you didn't sell it to me, I would have driven the wheels off of it.

My daughter was very attached to the car, so when I sold it she and my wife were upset. Every now and then she brings this car up in a conversation and tells our friends how horrible I was/am. At this point my wife and daughter do not know I bought the car, and in fact it stored at our home under a cover like my others. My plan is to surprise both of them, possibly at a restaurant where we will have our Easter meal at or at a cruise night. It will be a complete shock to them, and I look forward to their expressions.

Wow, what a neat story and I'd almost like to be there when the girls get to see it again for the first time! My father had a very nice Red '62 Bubbletop that he sold and was fortunate to buy back several years later. There is something special about sometimes about buying back a particular car that was special to a family. Congrats!

The stage was set, I was to meet my wife at a restaurant and in the parking lot there is a cruise night. It happened to be the first of the season. I park the Z in an obscure area of the lot. I call my wife who is there waiting for me in her car. As I get out of the Z car I happen to see a friend. I quickly tell him to grab the camera and follow my lead. As we greet my wife I tell her Andy (my friend ) wants to show me a car. She walks with us and???? Unbelievable! My wife is overwhelmed with emotions of joy repeatedly stating I can't believe it, you got me.

Next is my daughter she is at her boyfriend's and is just starting to cook dinner. I tell her she needs to hop in her car now, I need her because there is a car at the cruise I need to make a decision about immediately. I couldn't convince her and she was getting angry with me and basically hung up on me(she was pissed). Well she calls back and was on her way. When she finally spotted the car she was in disbelief that we got HER car back. As she began to realize what was happening tears of joy were running down her cheeks.

This was a great evening as I punked both of them.

Nice going Steve. Nothing like pleasing the wife and daughter with the same surprise and the fact that it was over a car makes it even more special. I envy you. My daughter couldn't care less about cars although she does appreciate them and understands my illness.

Thanks Rick. My daughter is the only true car enthusiast in the family. My sons act like they are in a Dentist chair when I need their help with the cars. My daughter has always had a passion. I remember when she was 4 years old, she would be snooping around the cars and hold the trouble light for me. My sons, I would have to put an APB out to find them for a little assistance. Funny how they turned out, but most importantly all good kids.

Congrats Steve. A great car!! What thrills me the most is that you said "at this point your wife and daughter did not know you bought the car". I need to take a page out of your book getting that money out from under her without her knowing it. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif I love it! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Seller's Remorse - a disease known for immediately eating on the heart but eventually traveling to the brain in many cases. The only known cure is to reverse the triggering event that caused the illness in the first place.

Great story and nice car.
