I am fixing to head out for a cruise and wanted to post a pic of what I have been fiddling around with lately. The gauges are NOS Autometer from the old location in Elgin,IL. Three digit part numbers and slightly rounder bezels than the ones sold now. The tach of course is very different than what Autometer sells now. I don't know much about the Hurst shifter boot except it looks kinda cool and appears to be fairly old. I trimmed it slightly to fit under the chrome plate. I found two of them last week and cut on the worst of the two today to see how it would work.

Yes, the chrome and the red piece come out. I need to send the little chrome piece out to have it rechromed eventually. I like the look and had a couple of compliments on it this afternoon at the cruise in. Thanks for the thumbs up ! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif I really enjoy the Nova. I get comments on the sound more than anything, No body asks if they are flowmaster either http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif, The Hollywood Deeptones completely set it apart from every other car in my area. Best swap meet money I ever spent http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

Gas Tank Boy, M22Mike and S.Shauger who is coming to the dark side lately and even Donny White and Darren who are youngsters among you old guys Tommy. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

True Value hardware... Those are the ones that came with the car. I asked for originals or any others and he told me those were all he had. I have seen square keys before though. My other 68 has round keys. Notice the key is out slightly. The door buzzer is very aggravating on a 68 Nova..

I had the same shifter boot on my 70 chevelle when I purchased the car in 1982.The hurst shifter and boot was out of a 1970 Camaro that was rapped around a telephone pole in Omeme Ontario, I dont know if it was orig to the car
but was a real nice set up.

Tommy, when you get a chance if you could get a close up of those gauges. What year do you think they are? Thanks.
(trying to re-outfit the Chevelle since all my gauges went to Mike's Nova)

Sure Chris. Those are probably from 1970-71. I have the Autometer catalogs from 69-73 too so I can try to scan in some stuff from there as well.

Chris, here is a scan from a 71 catalog of the 2 5/8 gauges. Autometer didn't have any pro comps or sport comps at this point and the logo was a little different. The Part numbers are different on the early gauges also. I may scan some more Autometer stuff in but it may be better suited for the day 2 thread instead of here. I was just stoked over the new shifter boot http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif. My next step is to get the new engine fine tuned, Phone calls placed to the Plowmans house are extremely informative.... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I acquired a lot of Autometer stuff from Dave Miller and added to the collection over the last couple of years.
