View Full Version : Least Favorite Color?

I'd like to hear some other people's opinion's of what their LEAST favorite colors are on their Musclecars? I mean what color would be the deal-breaker for you even if it was your favorite Make/Model?! It's a tough decision these days because with modern paints and techniques, even colors that weren't very popular can look spectacular. I think Burnished Brown is a great example of this. Even when new in 1969 a Burnished Brown Camaro or Chevelle didn't cause a lot of excitement, but the last few Brown 1969 cars I seen at MCACN or the old Vettefest just looked absolutely beautiful. Anyway, the color that just makes me nauseous, almost no matter what's it's on, is that Chrysler Sublime Green. I've always just hated that color!
Green, and I've had my share of green cars in the garage, too.

I was unsure about burnished brown. But once I saw it I was blown away, and its kind of unusual color. My least favorite color is red--hate to say it.

Not a big fan of Frost Green (GM), that ugly beige that the 78-80'ish Corvettes are sometimes painted in. I think those two are my least favorite colors on a musclecar.

Least favorite Color is Red. Funny thing one time at a Swap Meet/ Auction saw a Black 70 Chevelle SS LS-5. It was an Original Red Car. Passed on it. I do like the New Torred on the SRT-8 Challengers.

Man......where's all the love for Frost Green? And Red for that matter. I really don't understand that because Red is the easiest color to sell a car! While I'm a huge fan of Polo Green, when it comes to re-sale time I learned a long time ago that the Red, Orange, and Yellow are the 'hot' colors when it's time to move onto something else.
I always felt that the exterior colors and interiors went hand and hand....Even vinyl roofs back in the day would pop a color.........Almost any color can really be cool if you put a little thought into it........ http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif...Just my 1 1/2 cents....OH...my least favorite color is rusting metal..
Baby poop greeen (gm frost green)
most other greens (can tolerate really dark like fathom green)
Grown up poop brown (gm burnished brown)
Any purple, don't care if you give it a riduculous name
Any orange

Well, I don't think there's a color I dislike, but over the years I have heard more people say they really dislike bright yellow. For some reason, old Musclecars, in the hands of guys that don't care about originality, seem to end up day-glow yellow, usually with black stripes or black top.
As for factory colors, Butternut Yellow is not one of my favorites. It's not ugly by any means, just not a fan of it on a Musclecar.

I'm not a big fan of 1968 Palomino Ivory or Black cars. But it's like anything else..the color of a car is affected by so many variables, interior/top color, body style, lighting at the time, incorrect shades, and on and on. My favorite color is 68 Island Teal, but even with that color there are certain models and interior/top colors I would never use that color with.

I don't really have a least favorite color for muscle cars. Like others have said, the interior color, vinyl top color, stripe color, etc. can set off nicely any exterior color. I guess I would have to say since I am such a stickler for originality in muscle cars, any muscle car painted any color other than it's original factory color would be my least favorite.

It really depends on the car. Butternut Yellow looks great on a 1969 SS396 Chevelle (as the photo above obviously shows), just not a preferred color for me. I've seen a few 65 GTO's in a similar color, and they don't look very good in my opinion.
I'm actually more surprised by the dislike for red! I actually prefer a dark red, or burgundy, over a bright red, but again, if it was on a 68 GTO, with hideaways, just like the 1968 Motor Trend Car Of The Year, I'll take it! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I guess it all depends on how the car is trimmed, not to mention what the car is.
If my car had black stripes, I wouldn't like it as much. Plus, some whites are better than others.

I was unsure about burnished brown.
But once I saw it I was blown away, and its kind of unusual color.
My least favorite color is red--hate to say it.

A well done classic car in it's original color always works for me now that I am older. When I was younger I disliked green and painted a few green Camaros the brightest red I could find or black but now my favorite Camaro in my garage is a Fathom green 69 SS350 project car. Go figure.

I am a firm believer that there are no bad colors when done right. Every time I thought a certain color was not a "good one" and I see a sterling example I have changed my mind..BKH

To me, how good a color looks is dependent on the car. Fathom Green Camaros are fine, but Midnight Green GTOs (the same color) I hate.

I was just thinking "any WRONG color" is my least favorite, especially any incorrect bright FORD or 4NJNK red on a Chevy.
