Bobby Tynaman with his 68 B/Stock nova went 10.12 the first pass and 10.09 his second pass on a track that was slippery all day. May go faster this evening and tomorrow. Steve Ficacci got that BB singing. That is a fast nova!! Jerry MacNeish went 10.55 yesterday at 125.53 with a slipping clutch. Went a 10.63 today in D/Stock and maybe faster tonite after a clutch adjustment. The MPH is there. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

Keep us posted. I just hope they can stay away from the new CJ and DP cars that are so under rated HP wise. Yes, a hole debate in itself.

Talked with him yesterday. Clutch was shipping and lost .007 on the 10.55 run. That puts him in the high 10.40's with out any problem. Told me car went 125.68 mph with a front side head wind......and not on kill.
We got our 302 motor back and it made 426 hp on the Burtonsville dyno. We are very happy. He knows his stuff! I've been doing this car stuff for many years too.

He told me about your motor Bob. Glad you are happy. I believe Jerry will have that record maybe at Atco coming up or at the Dutch Classics in October. Depends on weather conditions especially for the little motors. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

It didn't seem that long ago that I believe it was Lee Haney that just got those cars in the 10.99. If I remember right, the 302 was the first 10 second stocker small block? Am I wrong?

Good question Jim! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif They do run D and E stock so maybe just because of the higher class than the 350's run.

It was Kent Hanley, and yes it was the first SB in the 10.s. I called CHP to verify.

Kent Hanley now runs a GT/BA Cavalier?? I noticed he had a LT-1 motor in it last weekend. 350/360 with a Holley. NHRA factors those LT-1's pretty easy.

I remember when he first nailed it the tech man disqualified him. He was running his valve piston clearance too close and bent a valve and somehow they said he was illegal on the camshaft. I think he got it 6 months later. It was a big deal then because it was a 302 not a larger cubed small block. I need to get into the Super Stock mags and see if I can find the article.

Just got off the phone with Macneish, he just set a new NHRA D/Stock world record with his Z28 Camaro. Atco Points race. 10.45 at 126.21 mph. That is stout. They went through tear down today. They now have the bragging rights as the fastest stock Z28 on the country.
We just got our engine back from him and it flies. Congrats to the boys at CHP.

I will see him Sunday. I knew he was going to run fast but that is flying, especially the MPH.

cool! congrats!
I was at Atco yesterday to see the stockers and super stockers. The weather turned out to be not so good for great performances. I got to see Jerry Mc Niesh make his record runs. Man that is one mean 302, 126+ mph that has some stones. With four foot wheelies thrown in for fun. on the other end of the spectrum. The big station wagon of Bob Bender went 12.55.

WOW Atco Raceway the pollen capital of the world. Delayed this morning for about 2 hours because of the pollen. Finally got underway with some good racing. Humid weather slowed everbody up, but good racing!

Any more news on the Atco points race this past weekend? Have all the records been certified?

If they were backed up they are good. Nobody was going real fast Sunday at the Pollen Bowl.

I was there too and thought there had been an oil down when I first arrived; would have never imagined that the track was being worked on to clear the pollen.
There were some really nice cars running though, I really like to Shelby clone (I assume) cars that were running (I counted 4).
