Lynn's mom (Norma...or as she's affectionately known..Grandma) is currently at John C. Lincoln Hospital Deer Valley with an infection in one of her legs.
Since she's already a double below the knee amputee (and 80 years old)..she has developed Osteomyelitis (bone infection) over a period of time. She is scheduled for surgery later this afternoon, where they will "explore" what it looks like inside. At best, they'll be able to clean it out and she'll be good to go in no time.
At worst, they will have to amputate more (to above the knee) to get rid of the infection.
She's not in the greatest of spirits right now as you can imagine...so prayers would be appreciated.

Hey everyone...good news! We just got back from the hospital and they were able to clean up the bone (the infection was very minor and on top of the bone and not inside)...so she didn't lose any more bone structure.
The surgery lasted for about an hour...and the recovery room was twice as long.
She is resting comfortably now in her room. We will go back up later on when she's really awake and visit. I will take the laptop to let her know that the "rest" of her family was right there with her.
We really appreciate all of the caring and the prayers...
They really do work http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Bruce,
Glad to hear Norma is doing well after the surgery. I'll keep her in my prayers.
Side note: My father's brother was afflicted with osteomyelitis at 8 years of age (75 years ago) as a result, he was crippled for life. There wasn't the treatment then like there is now.

Thanks again everyone...
She loved seeing the posts that you guys and gals put up http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Grandma Norma had Spina Bifida that was diagnosed when she was a teenager...and that's what ultimately caused the amputations BEFORE Lynn was born.
Phil, sorry to hear about your uncle... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Great news, Bruce. I know just how you feel. My dad had to have emergency surgery to repair a perferated ulcer yesterday, and mom told me that he's off of the ventalater today. He's only 90, so he's still in ICU.
As always, my prayers are with you.

So, she won't be coming home, but will be going to a rehab facility until her knee area heals. (She wouldn't have any way to get around at home)as we are both at work and Holly wouldn't be able to move her around...
Still much better news than anticipated.
BTW, you got it Bill!
