There's a new Doors documentary/movie out called 'When You're Strange'. I'm not sure if it's out in your city, but if not it's out on DVD on May 18th.
I bring this up as there's some incredibly good footage of Morrison driving around the desert in his Shelby Mustang. It's pretty startling. They've converted the old film footage to HD, and well, let just say it almost looks like it was just filmed.

I have heard a very good review of this film. They say if you are not a Doors fan you will be by the end of the film!

Sounds like it would be an enjoyable movie, at least to me. Thanks for the "heads up" Tom.

I've seen that Jim Morrison-made documentary before. I think you can find it on Youtube. For awhile, Morrison is driving alongside an early-Chevy II with a straight axle. Hey could you imagine that story: "Anyway, I'm cruising down the highway in my Chevy II Gasser lookin' for some action, and a '67 Shelby pulls alongside me with Jimm Morrison from The Doors driving it and......"!

I believe the driving footage is from the film he made titled 'HWY'. While there have been clips of it shown before, it's what they did with the film that is incredible.
I liken it to some of the pics posted in the 'Old Street Scenes' thread by Glenn. I'm guessing many of them have been digitized direct from the negatives, and their clarity and "modern look" never ceases to amaze me.
In any event, the movie is good. It doesn't uncover too many new facts, but it is cool nonetheless. And if you like Johnny Depp, you're in luck, as he narrates the film.

I can remember playing at the neighborhood park and my buddy says, "You know the guy who sings the 'light my fire' song? He died."
Did he? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
