On the cover of the June issue of Super Chevy there is a Hugger Orange with Orange Houndstooth RS COPO. Unfortunately after flipping through the magazine there appears to be no feature on the car. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif Is that the only COPO in that color combo? What little they show of it looks nice.

Dale Chevrolet in Waukesha WI is said to have had one. Not an RS, auto with console. They also had a yellow/yellow 4-speed COPO. In the '70s I had an orange/orange Z/28 I occasionally took to work. Our warehouse manager at the time told me he went to Dale for an L78 car and they sent him home in the orange COPO instead. This was early 1970; they had quite a few left over '69s including a yellow/yellow Z/28-RS with JL8.
Both yellow cars still exist; orange car in limbo. The original owner of the yellow COPO remembers the orange car and preferred it; did not want an auto.

At Carlisle last year there was an orange/orange L78 with a white vinyl top and a white hockey stripe. Neat machine that was beautifully restored.

How long have you been in Waukesha? The car was in the area until the early '80s. One of my buds bought it; that's how we met. He schmutzed it, took off the vinyl roof.
I realize these are lousy pics but thats how it was 30 years ago. The orange/orange car was also JL8; both from Dale. No idea where it is today. I sold it to a guy from FLA who wanted to use the brakes for a Z11 project.

I have been in the area my whole life. The early 80's would put me in my early teens. I collect all things Dale Chevrolet. Interesting stuff!

I was at the Car Craft summer nationals here in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN last weekend and had a great time checking out some nice Detroit Muscle when all of a sudden this beauty caught my eye and I had to check it out. I beleive it to be the same car as above with dog dish wheels on it. It had the Dale dealer emblem on the tail pan as well. I would have to imagine that this is probably a 1 of 1 type of car with the yellow houndstooth interior in a COPO. Either way it was a great looking car and I really enjoyed checking it out. Here are a few pictures for you guys to <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/drool.gif over. I hope that you guys enjoy these pictures.

Dale also sold an orange/orange automatic COPO; I worked with the original owner. Do not know if it still exists.

Didn't they have dealer installed Black Z28 stripes and were marketed as Dale Dusters?

The yellow COPO in the photos had Z/28 stripes added at Dale before delivery; do not know about "Dale Duster" ID.
BTW both of these were very slow to sell. The yellow car sold Dec '69; orange auto spring '70.

With the Canadian yellow/yellow COPO and the Dale yellow/yellow COPO that makes 2 known yellow/yellow COPOs...?...or did I miss something.

Who knows?
There were 1,015 L72 Camaro engines shipped from Tonowanda. Lets say 90% were installed in cars; a bit over 900. There is much known about COPOs delivered to Yenko, Berger, Scuncio, Jack Douglass, Emmert, Canada. Of the 6,000+ Chevy dealers in '69 this is a small group. No matter how you add it up they account for maybe 500 cars. That leaves 400+ L72 Camaros we know nothing about. We continue to mash the same data.
Despite the attention given some of these dealers, many only had a few COPOs. Dale is a good example; from what I have pieced together they had 6 L72 Camaros. At least one of them [Rallye Green] became a full-time race car and is probably lost in time. Two others are not known to exist.
Plenty left to learn about COPO Camaros.
Dale also had orange/orange and yellow/yellow JL-8 Z/28s. I briefly owned the orange car. A friend had the yellow one, also an RS with black vinyl. Both still around somewhere.
