I hear you loud and and clear, Dan. I really DO NOT like this new board either. It just gives off a dark, ominous feeling, or vibe. It's just depressing looking! I REALLY already miss the old 'white' background forum and it just kinda felt like home after spending so many years there. I'm sure many others feel the same way too. It's almost like coming home from work and finding all the locks changed and you've been evicted by the bank or something!

You also can't view earlier posted photos. The initial few pages of my 72 T/A resto thread had attachment photos that now say: &quot; You do not have access to download this attachment&quot; when you try to open them.

So as long as I am a paying member on this or any web site I will say whatever I want without adding politics or religion. I speak from my heart.

Dan, I don't have a problem with you either, but the way you are behaving on this site is not you. This is not the Dan I know. You are a nice guy who is always positive when I see you. So with that said, I will say what I said before, AGAIN. THIS IS NOT A DEMOCRACY. Internet websites like this do NOT fall under the banner of free speech. Free speach only qualifies when you are dealing with the government. So, when it comes to the sYc you have NO right to be a jerk here. You and the rest of your crew are NOT entitled to continually bash the mods and the way things are done here. It is a privilege to post on the sYc. If it is a matter of your measley twenty five bucks, then the Clary's should refund you your small change. If you guys don't like it, then leave. The rest of us should not be subjected to your constant negativity.

Dan, It is obvious that you and your guys are in the middle of a crusade to stick it to the mods and the admin for the beef with Ken Tibor. Your loyalty is admirable. Just think about something though. I can't speak for all the new guys on this site but people like me, you, Ken, Darren, Tom Williams, and dozens and dozens more have evolved as car gar guys largely in part of this site. Think about all the knowledge, connections, (money for some people), and most importantly, the friends you have made as a result of this site. Respect that is all I am suggesting.

It really needs to be kept private.

I also consider Dan Vasic a friend...as well as Ken Tibor...as well as Rob, Tom, the SCW gang and a host of others as well. Does that make me a jerk, because they are my friends? Does everyone have to fit into cliques...and only &quot;hang&quot; with those people? To me, the cars are secondary. If to be a member here requires you to have a Supercar, then I guess I am out...as I will never be able to afford one...and I am okay with that.

It is apparent there is an upgrade being done so maybe we should help out by posting up the things that need to be fixed or tweaked without going overboard. Upgrades are always painful but will go quicker with constructive comments.

It appears that a lot of old deleted PM's have suddenly reappeared as undeleted so I would bet a lot of PM box's will be listed as full.

As Rob said 2 pages ago, we are in the MIDDLE of a software upgrade...so yeah, stuff isn't gonna look the same as it did for a bit. Be thankful its not just shut down completely while the updates are being made, or you'd have to resort to using the phone to complain about everything among yourselves in the meantime. Rob is working his as$ off getting things back to the way everyone likes it...if you haven't noticed, every time you log in it's a little bit different than the way it was the time before. It'll get there...He knows what needs fixed and if he needs any &quot;help&quot; from anyone, I'm sure he'll ask for it.

As for the &quot;friendly feel&quot; being gone, i won't argue that, but it has nothing to do with the font size or features of the site. I'd highly recommend all of the bashing, personal attacks, digs, and general BS stop now or you'll have to find another site to complain on and/or about. -JB

Edit: I decided to keep the thread open, but please read the above notices and warnings, and realize the site is still in &quot;construction&quot; mode... bear with us, we're all doing the best we can.

Um, let's see Bruce. I directed these comments on a public forum as opposed to a PM because this is occurring on a public forum and NOT a pm. Come on Bruce, as the sites biggest cheerleader, I would imagine you would see it my way. Hell, you are one of the biggest success stories of positively evolving as a result of this site. I don't even have to start recapping all of the positive ways you have benefited in your hobby and personally because of this site. In turn you have also contributed A LOT to this site and as a result become a popular member. Now with that said, since you are always asking to be a moderator on the sYc why don't you show everyone how good you are at diplomacy. Tell this particular group of disgruntled members (since as you say, they are your friends) that they are being disruptive here. Tell them that they are setting a bad example to the dozens and dozens of new members that are reading all of this, and do not know all of the politics involved. Tell them they are turning this site into one of those sites like LS1 Tech or HAMB where it is a bunch of kids fighting. Tell them that no one is forcing them to be here and there are many other sites to pack up and move to. Tell them that in the past there was another bunch that did the same thing and are now on the outside looking in.

And Bruce, reading is a skill. No one called anyone a jerk because they were friends with someone. I said that they were acting like jerks because of all the points I made above.

Rob is in the midst of a total forum software upgrade that requires him to spend countless hours working out all the changes that come with upgrades. He didn't write the new software upgrade package, yet he has to do ALL the debugging without prior counsel with the folks that did write the new software. I know Rob takes the technical end of this forum very personally and I know that every time we go thru an upgrade, his patience gets stretch marks that could lead to a &quot;why bother&quot; attitude. This adjustment period will likely take a couple weeks of Rob's every spare moment to get things closer to a more user friendly format. The risk is that when suggestions/opinions about the upgrade become closer to chronic complaints...the closer his hand gets to the &quot;pull the plug&quot; solution to his woes as the technical chief. Getting used to the new upgrade is a process that will cause all of us some grief, but I can't even imagine the grief it's causing at Rob's desk.

Frank...you will have a PM soon. I suggest you read it....maybe a few times.

For the record, I have benefited from this site by making lots of friends. Whether I have given anything back may be debatable...BUT, it's not your concern to keep score about what I do or don't do...in fact I think it's an insult for you to insinuate anything about what has transpired since I joined the site by somehow justifying that because I have gotten &quot;this&quot;...that I have to give back &quot;that&quot;. The people that have helped me out in the past know how I feel about them. But, it's NONE of your business.

I am an adult, you are an adult. Let's keep it that way. I have always tried to keep an even keel when posting on this site.

Can you say the same? It's the way I live my life.

BTW, you are not a moderator, so if the moderators have anything to say, let THEM do it. Otherwise, volunteer your time as a moderator and help to make the site better...not start bashing people because they don't agree with you. That brings this site down as well. And the new members whom you are concerned about are probably thinking the same things about the recent stuff you have posted as well.

As an aside, I am not &quot;Always asking to be a moderator here&quot;....far from it. I PMe'd Rob a while back and told him if he ever needed anyone, I would help out. I again (in a post this time) said that I'd offer to help out if needed. That's 2 times, buddy...not ALL the time

Frank, generalizations get you nowhere...except to escalate a situation when it's not necessary. Please refrain from doing so in the future...at least in reference to me.

Finally, thanks for the insult about my reading skills.

I had a great time talking to you and your dad at the reunions. Your dad is a great guy. Say hi to him for me, please.

I am done here....

I would hope everyone is clear on what is happening with the site on the technical side. An upgrade. By someone who I've never met but know he has a family and a full time job. So let's cut some slack.

As far as the other stuff that's happening, far be it from me to be a peacemaker, say the right thing, or ever be suggested for moderation. I have, however, been fortunate to be in the company of smart people from time to time and remember things they say that have helped me stay married for a period of time, raise my family, and not loose clients (that are REALLY STUPID)!!

here's one of my favorites.....
before I speak, ask myself ;

Hey Bruce, I don't appreciate the personal attacks. No one did it to you, so don't do it to me. I expressed my opinion about a situation and a collective group of people, not anybody personally.

I brought up what people have gained from this site so everybody can keep it in perspective. Like I wrote in my pm to you, as far as gains, I was referring to knowledge, friends, help with you car, basically the same things I and many others have gained from this site, so don't go and accuse me of insulting your family. That is about as low of a blow I have ever received on this site. Like I told you, I don't even know your family.

For a group of guys that claim to &quot;get it&quot; you aren't getting it.

For the record, when I posted this &quot;what the heck happened&quot; thread, I meant it from the point of view that I thought we got hacked since I saw that wierd, purple, log-in page requesting my log in information. It was like the Nigerian version of Yenko.net. All that was missing was Mr. Dr. Obawattuu asking for my bank account number. :-)

Now that I know it's just a website upgrade, I am quite relieved. Can't wait to see the final product.

Everyone needs to take a chill pill. Rob as well as Joe and LV all already stated the site was being upgraded. As with all upgrades you lose and gain. The gain will far outweigh the loss. Give Rob a chance to get things tightened up and running smoothly. Dont expect it to happen over night and as LV stated Rob does take the site very serious and inbetween his three other REAL JOBS (Husband/Father/work) things will sort themselves out. Give him a chance to get it done. I will say I dont know what options/features the new board comes with but if people would give positive suggestions instead of bitching and moaning about it, it will help.

Rob, Thanks for taking the time away from your family to run the site here.

I have to say that now that the site is coming back together, it is looking to be better than before.
It still would've been nice if the upgrades had been announced before they were started to be implemented, but then we couldn't have had fun reading all the posts about the changes we didn't expect.

Spiders (order Araneae) are air-breathing chelicerate arthropods that have eight legs, and chelicerae modified into fangs that inject venom. They are the largest order of arachnids and rank seventh in total species diversity among all other groups of organisms.[1] Spiders are found worldwide on every continent except for Antarctica, and have become established in nearly every ecological niche with the exception of air and sea colonization. As of 2008, approximately 40,000 spider species, and 109 families have been recorded by taxonomists;[2] however, there has been confusion within the scientific community as to how all these genera should be classified, as evidenced by the over 20 different classifications that have been proposed since 1900.[3]

It is truly a shame to see where the site as well as others and many of the people here are headed. This used to be called my second home and most all of my friends were found and maintained here. Now we see many of those same people fighting with each other and some of us even having to take legal action to stop others. I also see many instances where people who used to be friends are now against each other solely because of who or what they stood up for on some of these threads. Case in point, EXACTLY where this thread is headed between two people that used to be very good friends. I have friends who voted for Obama. I do not think anything less of them now nor do I beat them up over their decision to vote for him. They are just as entitled to a vote as I am.
What happened to people being able to speak with their opinion and others not holding it against them? What happened to people being able to show their car proudly without fear of people pointing out flaws? What happened to people being able to make comments without fear of reprisal or being banned? To see many of the people that used to call one another best of friends and who are now having to defend their words is really sad on both sides.
People need to climb off their high horses, shake hands and get back to business and that is the preservation and promotion of the muscle car hobby. I don't know half of the behind the scenes stories about what happened to certain individuals here that moved onto other sites and even started their own sites nor do I care. It is a free world. But I do get tired of them fighting publically with each other. Take it privately or better yet………..meet in person and work things out. I do miss when people used to join together for a common cause and not pit others against each other. We ALL.......need to move on, shake hands and let bygones be bygones and get back to what we do best. That being said, BOTH sides need to become more open minded and quit jumping to conclusions about what the other side is doing and/or saying.
This site ‘used’ to be the best on the net bar none. Lately it is carrying a stigmatism that needs to be overcome and return to being the best on the net before it becomes just another battling grounds for very opinionated, close minded and outspoken people. This cannot happen until many of these individuals open their minds and listen to other peoples constructive criticism and not take it personally or simply move on.
The site has changed, let’s change with it and make the best of it. I too think it should have been mentioned before the changes took place just to warn others what to expect as I too thought the site was under siege when I first got on after the change. After numerous phone calls and emails I still did not know what was going on until this thread started. Had word been given, I think likely most all negativism would never have started. Nuff said. I think it is time for men to be men and boys to be babies and either move on or start acting like adults and stop pushing the limits. That goes for BOTH sides and that is what is so sad, there has to be two sides instead of one.

Hey Groucho, you were only here for about a week with the old site, so it shouldn't be too hard to adapt to the new one. As Jeff said, explore it a little and you may surprised how much you can figure out with some messing around. Some guys used the old forum for 10+ years, the transition for them (and myself included) is probably alot bigger... yet most are dealing with it pretty well, at least after the initial shock starts to wear off.

I admittedly don't like everything about it either, but we'll get used to it. There are still changes being made too, as Rob (the administrator) is continuing to tweak it to be as user friendly as possible. It'll get there.

Please watch the language btw, I'm a HAMB'er too, but this aint the HAMB. We &quot;try&quot; to keep it a little less low-brow here. Not sure if I posted in your initial thread, but nice rides you have there. -JB

There's been overreacting, on both sides of the equation. Some of the people behind those text fields might not appreciate a smackdown in front of their peers on a public forum. It's only comical when the keyboard is pointed at someone else.. .

Most old farts like routine, and are resistant to change. I'm sure it will all work out fine in the end but clearly some people on here need to work on their tolerance game.

Still not liking the change. Many boards have certain similarities that can be helpful in navigating for those of us that are computer impaired. This board included, until the change. Problem is, on the Net, is that way too many take for granted that we all possess their computer savvy when they set up these boards. Remember, many us us are merely car guys with a computer, and NOT a computer guy with a car. BIG difference. Similar issues make a lot of current car magazines suck. Yesteryear, real car guys wrote, nowadays, writers try to understand cars, and therefore write some hardy understandable jibberish. As a kid, I understood more of what I read in car magazines than I do now, after years of being a mechanic/drag racer. Sad. How will today's kids get an interest to carry the torch if they don't understand what they're reading? And please, before you go on as to how I should keep a Dictionary next to my Hot Rod mag.....education in ridiculous wording is NOT why I read those magazines. If I have to stop every tenth word to look something up, I lose interest in the story at hand. Therefore diminishing the entertainment I seek by reading magazines of that type. Rant over. Back to the original issue....remember, some of us are mere car guys with minimal computer savvy when you make these changes

Geez, are you still bitching about the site changes? You obviously need some real problems in your life if this is all you have to complain about.

So, difficulties here..... diminish the distraction from the real problems. That make sense?

You are entitled to your opinion, and you have made your point several times. It is time to move on.

Would you drive without a license? How about SCUBA dive without being certified?

I'm sure you did not always know everything you now know about cars. You had to learn it. Computers are the same way. If you do not want to learn, then stop complaining about not knowing how to use a computer.

I am patient with those who are trying to learn. Unfortunately, it sounds like you do not want to learn how to use a computer better and want everyone else to cater to that. Ignorance can be fixed by learning, being stubborn is a different ball of wax.

Jason </div></div>I've navigated my way through many boards, for many years just fine, until the change on this one. I'm very passionate about cars, and love discussing them and learning about them. But, when there's a change as radical as this one, it puts a damper on that. Does any of this make any sense? Or are all you guys computer whizzes? It's kinda like stopping an engine rebuild to take a 3 hour course on re-learning the use of a torque wrench

I thought the new format would eliminate any chance of a Virus! Maybe, it's just a glitch that will go away in time.

Some new cool features. Seems like it will be for the good in the long run. Thanks to Rob for taking on this tedious task!

Grouchy, if you keep up with the cursing you may may get an involuntary vacation from this site. You were warned a couple days ago about the language. This is not the HAMB message board.

Excellent--threads with new unread posts are now highlighted in yellow! Small changes over time keep making this site better. I, for one, am now enjoying the new format and find it not much different than the old.

Keep up the good work guys!! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/beers.gif

Is it me or are the number of posts, especially in the for sale section down sigificantly since the double wammy of the for sale rules change and the site upgrade? Not knocking either, just my observation.

Seems like traffic is down, but now that things have been ironed out I expect things to pick up. I know I was staying away while things were in transition.

On a side note, I don't get the roll-over preview. Seems like it is totally redundant because it you already get the preview when you view the Active Topics search.

-----I see the same thing as far as the classifieds are concerned. The changes were well meant but unless something happens it looks like the classified section may be dead or dying. Back before the classified changes I used to tell many friends (not on this board) that they should list appropriate cars on the sight as I knew of no other sight that could almost guarantee a sale. The new rules unfortunatly sort of knock that idea out!........Bill S

It should still be true. The exact same audience [market] is here, as it was before...the only things missing are the asinine comments.

The irony of it is, some of those now crying the loudest about &quot;no replies&quot; are the same ones that forced us to go in that direciton.
