You best bet would be to visit Team Chevelle and ask there. with almost 54,000 members worldwide I would bet someone there could help you with any question you might have

Welcome aboard!.
If your car is GM Canada documented, what info are you seeking as the docs should provide the whole story for options as shipped w/ your Vin?.
Does the A-51 on your docs denote something more than the bucket seat option itself?.
If you're thinking the car was equipped w/ factory leather and the GM Canada docs don't specify this, I'd be skeptical but since anything's possible dig deep into the car itself for clues..
Canadian cars sometimes contain option info on the cowl Trim Tag that US cars don't so what all's included there?.
Have you pulled the seats and carefully looked for attached or loose tags?.
What are the door panels finished in...if leather too check them for tags and markings too?.
Did George provide you which Dealer or Dealer code the car was originally delivered to as this may provide a clue too?.
Is your car one of the Canadian SS Small Block cars?.

Good luck w/ everything!.

thanks for responding, the docs show vinyl and the door panels are vinyl. And I did look for the tag under the rear seat and it says gm a body. the car was sold by belmont chevrolet weston on.Stu Harper was the original purchaser. I guess it is a mystery. And yes it is a small block (bummer).

For starters, Belmont was one of THE C<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/drool.gif<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/drool.gifLEST Canadian dealers happening back in the day!.
Click on the below link...if it works, it should take you to a past thread here where Lance had dealer decals available to owners of Belmont delivered cars..
He's a generous (and cool) guy so as in the thread, send him a copy of your docs etc and if he still has any I'm sure he'd be happy to send one to you for your Belmont car!.

Where'd your idea of the leather seats being factory pieces come from?.
And a factory SB SS isn't necessarily a bad thing...more rare than a BB for one as it wasn't available in the US Chevelle SS cars!.
Which SB engine option was it originally...and orig. engine now?.

Thanks again for all your help!! I did some more digging in the car. I had just taken out the rear seat so I decided to take the back of the buckets off and to my surprise, I found my build sheet in good condition but no new info. I also found a red tag, the one on the drivers side was mostly unreadable, but the passenger side says "7668157 frt. back b-body pass. bkt mdls.-67-87" One guy I took it to is a long time upholsterer who does alot of old cars, the other is a professional corvette restorer/owner/dealer. I am going to start to research these numbers. In addition, the back of the tag has a date of Sept 26 1966, my car was shipped oct 6, 1966.
Thanks, Pete

To answer the rest of your questions, it was originally a 283 which blew up in 68 and they replaced it with a 327 and I have the documents on the replacement. Does any one know how to decode these seat no's(7668157 frt.back b-body pass. bkt mdls.-67-87

I've never known Chevelles to get leather seats. A51 is a vinyl bucket seat option. I think you would be looking at another code if the car actually came with leather. The Malibus could be ordered with cloth or vinyl bench seats under different codes. Of course, with GM there were always a few little curve balls thrown in. I think they did that just to keep us all guessing. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/laugh.gif

This car is a Chevelle SS small block? or a Canadian Beaumont ?

I have often seen the 65-67 seats described as "leather". I believe the factory description says "imitation leather".

This car is not a Beaumont or a Chevelle SS but a Malibu SS..
Best to think of these 66/67 SS Small Block cars as a continuation of the 64/65 SS Small Block cars!.

PS - Although not sold in the US, these and other Canadian built cars were available in Canada also shipped to South Africa and other offshore markets too..
