Were the automatics rated at 410 hp? Even on the air cleaner?

Also, what do you think of this site?
http://www.holisticpage.com/camaro/camaros/copo.htm

I see some stuff that doesn't jibe with other things I've read in the past.

Thanks!

According to Yenko ads and paperwork, until '69 Yenko did offer a lower HP auto, but in '69 all Yenkos received the factory installed L-72 solid lifter engine, rated at 425 by the facotry, 450 by Yenko and NHRA.

As with many such sites, simply &quot;borrowing&quot; information from many sources, rather then doing the necesary leg work to get it right.

You are welcome.

The biggest problem with sites such as that, like magazines, books and other such media, they are read only, which means the only information printed is whatever the author writes, which can be 100% correct, 100% wrong, or anywhere in between. This versus our site, which has an open forum, where opposing opinions can be, and often, are expressed. IMO, that is what makes this site so special, as when it comes to rare musclecars, the wealth of knowledge and the willingness to share that knowledge on here is second to none.

In the latest <span style="font-style: italic">Old Cars Weekly</span> magazine, someone sent in a correction in their Q&amp;A and referenced the site. The editor then elaborated some more on the Yenkos, even suggesting that just over 1000 Yenko Camaros were built. I recognized it as incorrect, as that's the estimated total for ALL L-72 Camaros. They also got the hp rating wrong, which I noticed came from the referenced site.

I sent in a correction and referenced this site, so let's see if they print the correction.

Diego, that web site was put up in the mid-90s. The guy who put up the site has never changed it. I haven't looked at it for years, and find it hard to believe that the site is still up. I was running Windows 95, with a 28k modem, when I first found it.
Has not changed since then.

Hello,
New member here! Trying to find information on 1969 Yenko Camaro on web and your site looks good so here I am. We have a 1969 Camaro Yenko in our family. My sister and her husband are the owners but I am the only one who drives it. I am looking for information on it. It is fun to drive and is fast. Does anyone know where I can get a Yenko brochure or 69 Chevrolet Camaro brochure as I will buy one.

Thanks, Kirk

No Yenko brochures I know of for '69, but several cool flyers, ads, etc. Originals are rather hard, and expensive to come by, but repops can be found on Ebay, among other places. Here is a neat ad for '69.

IMO, your best bet is Bob McClurg's newly released book on Yenko.

Tom,
Thanks for the information. I think that I have a lot to learn on this car. My sisters car looks like the one on the front of the book that you suggest except for the wheels are different.

Thanks again, Kirk

southernyenko, Got your last e-mail, will put all in mail in moring, as it went in one large envelope, dont worry about postage, overnights not that bad. sent 3 old chev brochures 67, 68, 69 . on camaros. yenkos camaros were made those years, thought ,yenkos not in factory brochures. I looked through the paper work on the 68 yenko Ibought and found , an info. sheet , from yenko about the car, and included it to you. Its a year earlier than your sisters, but if its a 4speed the drive trains,I believe are the same? reply back when you recieve. Bob krueger.

Newbie here, can anyone answer any questions? I need a couple of parts for my sisters yenko. What I need is a wheel trim ring(sisters bad driving! curbs), also I need the decals for the top of the front seats because they are wearing out. I took it to the beach yesterday and everyone was looking and asking questions about the car. I get a lot of attention (mostly when I start it up). Is it possible to add air conditioning? Its hot in here.
Thanks, Kirk

I may be out of line but is it just me who is thinking southernyenko could be Bob Krueger(original owner)?

A simple IPL comparison check may show whether that is the case or not. You are one of many that I have spoken to that in fact thinks this could be the case.

This may help understand what's going on?.

Where you are in the US doesn't matter when it comes to Yenko's. You need to tell us more about the car. real car ? paperwork ? color ? Pictures ?

Generally speaking , resale value on Yanko's are pretty low in Orlando. There is a place called Troll Motors up in New Jersey you can call and see what the value is.

And strangely, &quot;Original Owner Bob&quot; is suddenly missing. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/shocked.gif

Well, to their credit, the latest issue of Old Cars Weekly printed my letter correcting them on the Yenko information. They even printed my link to this site.
