He hurt the car by ripping it apart. Now it's a puzzle.

Dang. Should have left it together as a survivor, IMO.

Wow but certainly would've been more valuable untouched as shown in the pics of it sitting in the found location...especially before the mentioned recent paint work!.
More details would be nice to see!.
Does the lumpy hood come w/ the deal?.

Unfortunately there will always be those who molest the originality of these cars, most with no malice intended. However, Intended or not too many original features and finishes have been lost over the years... stepping off my soapbox...

Anyone look at this car or know anything about it?

I spoke with him. Apparently he repainted the front fenders (including the stripes) because there were a few dents from elbows leaning on the fenders... count me out! Those dents would have added nothing but character IMHO.

OMG! I can't believe he did some paint work! I bet he lost $40k because of that mistake. I would have been interested, but not now. Original paint is priceless!

From the eBay listing....
"I took the entire front end of the car to one of the best paint blenders in the state, where this work is currently being done. The buyer will have the option to have us finish the paintwork or take the AS IS WHERE IS."
So perhaps the work has not been done yet and you could get it before it gets "fixed" <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/dunno.gif

Here is the fuzzy "JJ" engine stamping photo and the fuzzy vin # photos.

Experts have been strangly quiet about this car...
But I would like to know if it's real!

First I prefer in preservation verses restoration but I think this is a nice car. If done right it still will retain over 75% original paint. It is also his loss he tore it apart and your gain. You would have to rebuild the drivetrain anyway. With that said it is unusual for a race car to have a born with block. 842s where known for dropping valve seats.

I've had several conversations on the phone and by emails for the past 8 days with Joel. I have only asked him for one thing and one thing only,a clear and clean picture of the broach marks. I won't go into all of his excuses for the past 8 days, but I knew a few days ago this would be the wind-up...a blurry picture. Just a couple days ago the block and heads were going to be loose with the other parts, can you guess why he decided to have the engine put together fast fast. I just can't believe if those are real bids, what are they thinking?

When you don't see any intersted parties talking openly about it that means there is a lot of behind the sceans action. This could get interesting.

Give me a freaking break! Those photos are so ridiculous I laughed out loud, although if I were in the market for this vehicle I would have inspected it in person, I would expect a full refund of my travel expenses if the stamps were not as represented... ORIGINAL. The bid is high enough to hire a professional photographer.
*** The caveat being: IF THE STAMPS ARE IN FACT LEGIT, THE POSTING OF THE PHOTOS HAS DONE A SEVERE DIS-SERVICE TO THE SELLER.

Little or no paper trail and the appropriate fuzzy pictures are all too common. I can't imagine anyone paying big money for a car like this on a maybe. Then, that's just me.

WOW! Has anyone checked out the bidding? Talk about lucking out! A bidder brand new to ePay with no feedback has rung the top bid to $61K from $44K! I bet the owner is jumping for joy!

that 0 bidder had nothing to do with the outcome, it was these three that dictated the final hammer price of $64100:

I think the seller may have bought the car without an engine. There are no photos of the engine in the "as found" set of pictures, the front end is sitting a little high in my opinion, and the front clip and engine were already off the car in the photo dated 8/15/2008.

The trans looks restamped. I would say the block might be too.

The trans appears to have some work done in the area around the stamping, it doesn't look right in the photos for sure.

There are no docs with this car so it's a crap shot as to if it's legit or not. My L89 was built the first week of March and this one has a 3E build date. The vins are roughly 2500 off. They were normally run in batches. I have found 3 others with the same build week as mine. I have not found any with a 3E build date. Not saying it's not real but just pointing out a couple of things. Too bad the took apart the car <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/frown.gif
