So a paying sponsor puts up a car that you don't like and you feel the need to start a new thread to bitch about it ? How many positives have you brought to this site compared to the sponsor ? I happen to like the Beetle.

I happen to think it's a cool car. They Can't all be supercars !

If I had garage space (and enough spare $$$ <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/rolleyes.gif ), I think I'd like to have a bug in my little fleet. That rag top is pretty sweet. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif

I don't see a problem with listing any car for sale on here. There have been SUVs, trucks, Cadillacs and other non-supercars listed and no one bitched about them. It may not be a musclecar but it will outrun Charley's Isetta. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/haha.gif

In the Beetle world it's actually a pretty significant deal. Production left Germany after that. I want a chartreuse micro bus.

Dude (I will call you that since there is no name in your profile)

I am crushed... <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/cry.gif..I learned how to drive in a 60 VW. And shift without using the clutch, like it or not, they are part of the American fabric.
And on a side note , the sponsers on here all great people.

But it is a "Super" Beetle!

I think the Isetta is quicker and faster, but I'll run Clill at the reunion for a buck.

Got my first ticket in a Bug, got into my first accident in a bug, performed my first enamel paint job on a bug, learned how to dive a stick in a bug ...................Now the Micro bus opens up a bunch of other firsts.

Let me think: I am a sponsor, who bought it from another sponsor and had it shipped to my shop by another sponsor........ so its all in the family.

My first car was a black 1963 Beetle. I would love to have it back. I've got a picture or 2 of it somewhere. I'll have to dig 'em up. Not many people scoff'd at a VW built and driven by Gene Berg.

I LOVE THAT BEETLE!

My wife's first car was a jelly bean green Super Beetle in Rochester, NY. She said in the winter she'd have to drive with her feet off of the floorboards because if her shoes touched the floors for any length of time, the soles of her sneakers would freeze solid to the floor.

If I had the $$$ I'd buy it just to finally win the punch-bug game with my kids. They are constantly pummelling me whenever we drive around town (there's a VW dealer here with a lot full of new Beetles).

Ahhh...the Berg's. Gene and Gary~~~

I, too had a Beetle...not a Super Beetle, though Gary (my brother) had a special edition "La Grande" one.

Gary Berg's girlfriend lived in the same apartment complex that we did. I also remember Gary racing against a 426 Hemi Challenger (that was at the Angelo's cruise in Anaheim) for a couple of hundred bucks...off of Mira Loma in Anaheim.

The race wasn't even close...as Gary had a 2180 that was fully built. It lifted the tires in the first 3 gears. The first clue should have been the shorty wheelie bars <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif

I think that Gene died in the mid 90's ? <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/beers.gif

Any other "firsts" you care to share that took place in the bug or did that happen in the Micro bus??? <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/wink.gif

VERY well put! It's nice to have a change of pace every once in a while. I cut my mechanical teeth on building Baha Bugs in the early 70's from wrecked bugs we bought from the auctions.

Stefano can post a Wheel Horse tractor for sale for all I care (I'm sure he would find someone to buy it if he did)

I remember the snowstorm in chicago in 1967 my dad had a vw beetle and it got good traction in the snow because of the rear engine. He hooked up a rope to the rear bumper and pulled my brothers and I on our toboggan around the neighborhood for a couple of hours.
Geez, I wonder if he got caught doing that nowadays what would happen to him? You get in trouble if you're not wearing a helmet when you are riding a tricycle!

It's not likely you'll hear me knocking a beetle or any pancake powered blow motor's. My first THREE cars were bugs and the family had plenty before that. It didn't take much dough to double or triple the HP in these cars. I wish I had pics of air under the front wheels when I was only 16.
