Just thought I would share my new aquisition. 59 Bel Air. 71,000 miles. Unrestored (besides the obvious) Any suggestions for powertrain? I was thinking an LS dropout with trans.

-----I vote for the six with a multiple intake and a split exhaust with some gutted "Smittys". Dare to be different. How fast do you see yourself going in that 59 anyway??? Ah,,,Just a thought........Bill S

Me too ! Get some hop up stuff for the 6 holer...you can make them run pretty damn good...or you could check out a World Products new aluminum 409 block and go as goofy as you want...and no one else will have one at the car cruises...

I'm on Charley & Gags' team; ...... leave the 6 & stick and enjoy the AC. Love the car, but for my personal taste, ........ I'd have to replace some rolling stock.

OMG!!! Dress the stovebolt in some eyecandy, split exhaust and maybe a split intake, keep the three on the tree, maybe go with some Cragers (and some RWL Polyglas <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/naughty.gif) and have fun in the throwback machine!!!!!

I was giving some serious thought to these for rolling stock

No doubt the 6 and the stick is cool. Perhaps I should leave it! I like the price of leaving it!

I certainly agree; leave the 6 and dare to be differant!
But then...I drive an AMC!
Regardless, that is just a neat car, so go have some fun with it.

I would leave the 6 in there for sure. Trans, can't really go wrong with anything.
Might be nice ot have some extra torque though. Turbos get complicated. Did anyone ever put a small roots blower on one?
