67 Chevelle pitman arm

I am currently helping a friend put together his 67 Chevelle and all the steering parts are going to be replaced. We have been trying to find a new pitman arm but our supplier over here don't have any. When I look at Rockauto.com they don't list any either.

So my question: is this a part that you normally don't replace? I have found pictures of it on the net and it looks like it doesn't have any ball joint like the Camaro has.

The pitman arm isn't normally replaced on these cars, there are no wearing components on it.

Is your friends car a manual or power steering car? I have a new manual arm available if you can use it.

It was just that I told him to buy all the parts for the steering linkage, he told med that they didn't have the pitman arm for his car.

We got everything else so we just skip that part then.

Well we have got some problems with the steering linkage. The centerlink needs to be replaced, as mentioned before I thought we could change the pitman arm since the link is loose. The part that needs replacement is the centerlink were the loose link is located.

It seems difficult to find this part, Moog doesn't carry it.

Does anyone know were we could find a Centerlink for this '67 Chevelle?

Rare Parts in California shows that they have them. Their web site catalogue is a little hard to get through, but I found that their part number is 25795. You might want to contact them and verify that though.

I purchased a centerlink recently for a 69 chevelle from NPD. I'm sure they would have it for a 67 also.

Well we finally got all missing parts we needed to complete the car. The centerlink we got from Summit and it is really from CPP.
It is a little different than the one that was on the car. First of all the tapered pin that goes in the the pitman arm and the idler arm are one size thicker than the one we had on the car. And secondly the steering links holes are about one inch more to the center than the old one.

According to the listing it should fit 64-67 Chevelle.

I went to look at NPD and they list just one for 64-67.

We got an idler arm that had the larger hole so that is OK but we need another pitman arm with the larger hole. The old one looks like 1/2&quot; on the small part of the conical and the new one looks like 9/16&quot; (I only had a metrical ruler and eyesight)

NPD lists two pitman arms, one for manual and one for power.
Anyone who knows the difference between the two so we can order the proper one.

The shaft on a power steering box is much larger than on a non-power steering box. You can only use a pitman arm on the box that it was made for because of that size difference.

I forgot to say that the car has a power steering box. But why the difference in small end of the pitman arm?
