Hello everyone, got some questions I need help with...
I purchased some 15x10 cragar ss wheels for my 69 camaro. There is 6.5" from the back rim to the flange that has the hole patter. They are the non unilug, 1974 vintage. Will these fit? It looks like they will buy seeing if anyone else has success or problems. Also, what size of a tire should I get? Again, i dont have the expertise in this area. There is a picture of a 1968 BM camaro from the south that still has the orginal owner (the special color and his name eludes me at this time) but it appears he has some really wide tires on his. Anyway, looking to see what i need to look out for. And Lastly, does anyone have a suggestion to where i can get these reconditioned?
thanks

You'll certainly have an issue with the back spacing. People do relocate the rear shocks to get more clearance, but even with that, I think you'll hit your leaf spring or inner wheel house with 6" of offset.

Stockton resores the wheels. They grind the welds off so the center aluminum part can be removed and then resotres the centers and the hoops seperatley, then reassembles them. You could have them narrow the hoops and change the offset to maximize the fit for what it is you are tyring to re-create. They would be far form original then, which might be hard to justify the cost.

Cragar will make you a custom offset, but they will either be unilug, or have acorn lug holes which look even worse than the unilug.

Let's see a pic of what you have in mind, and also what you've got right now.

I would probably recommend holding out for the right wheel to come along. Probably a 15x7 with 4" off BS would be a sure thing for you. Those new L60's would set it off right!

These are 14 x 10. I remember they were "reverse offset", don't know what that measures. Tires are M50-14. The widest at that time. Airshocks required!

every 1st gen is little diff, the rule of thumb is 4.5" to 5" backspace is the max and even then may get a little tire buzz on the inside.

You guys might think I'm crazy, but I like those rear wheels on the Camaro <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/naughty.gif

15X7 Cragars with a 4" backspacing require a spacer plate when used with "vintage" L60/15's. M, I can't believe YOU said that. heading to the darkside? WOW

Hell yeah. those wheels look great on that Camaro....like I have mentioned before....this is the "look" that got me into cars in the first place....these bad a$$ machines cruising around the Chicago streets in the 70's.

Now you did it. Heres more, photos taken in 1979 in San Diego. The Cragers have Crager Knock Off center caps (are these still available?). My car ran high 12's at Carlsbad but was just a hot street car. 350ci with fully ported Chevy "Turbo" 292 casting heads, 350 trans w/3000 stall, 4.56 posi rear:

Here is the same car in 1976 with L60-14 on slotted mags. they did not fit the wheel wells and I had to add air shocks.
