Congrats to Ben & Dave Wenzel, Can't think of anyone more deserving of this national event win. Gentlemen racers, and the fact that Ben bought this very rare Z28 new in June of 1967 (one of 602 produced), won Indy in Sept of '67......and is still racing the same car today. 43 years between national event wins but who's counting. Between the Jegs Championship last year, multiple points race wins, division 3 championship. You are a living legend in the world of NHRA and Stock Eliminator. And with a stick shift car to boot, keep it up for another 20 years! I was there when you won Indy in '67.

I met Jerry this past weekend at Carlisle and he was telling me that Ben is in his late 60's early 70's or something like that. Amazing for either of these guys to have reflexes like that and to keep winning. Oh and Jerry's "Yenko Eater" Z-28 is unreal! I heard that car fire up while walking through the show field Friday afternoon and had to go see what it was. The memories that car brought back from my younger years so I just sat and listened. I couldn't believe that he would race such a beautiful car as it looked more like a restored car than a race car.

Yep a real nice car with a rare color combo. Car is as much GO "or more" as it is show! Jerry is not a bad driver himself either.

I wish he would travel down here to Hotlanta to race. The closest he has been to me was Bristol a few weeks ago. I have been watching the videos on Youtube of that car yanking the front wheels and I am like a kid seeing the ocean for the first time. Might have to build a mouse motored Camaro instead of a rat-tified Chevelle for racing. Haven't seen many stock big block Camaros or Chevelles going that fast. Wanted to talk more racing with Jerry but he and the others were too busy judging.

He just did a 302 engine for me and my boy. It flat out flies. Said he will put the record in the 10.20's in good air this fall. That should be cool.

Saw the '67 Z race car at the shop when we visited. It was as nice as anything in the Solid Lifter showroom from what I've been told by others who attended........amazing paint on that car, and they race it! Unreal! How do they keep that car in showroom condition and beat it up like that? Especially in an engine tear down!
