Most members here know me. I've decided to sell my "Canadian Gold" SS 427 Impala. Below is a well written ad. A classified will soon appear on a few different venues including Hemmings. I'l like to let you all know first; maybe you know or have a friend who'd like this gem. Thanks for your time. Jeff
1967 Chevrolet Impala SS 427
Oshawa Canada Built, Fully Documented, “Born With” 427/385, Turbo 400 & 2.73 Posi F-41
A car is only original once; when it rolls of the assembly line. Most collectors or auto enthusiasts agree to this. So when you “original” elsewhere, it shouldn’t mean a restoration to make it “original”, or new sheet metal to replace the rot or major replacement parts. Sure, a paintjob, a cracked windshield or wear and tear and maintenance items are a given. Except for examples like these along with a few others, everything else should be in place; like when it rolled out of production. Another thought is if your Chevrolet was built in the US, you cannot verify its current authenticity through General Motors. You listen to what the seller says and trust your knowledge. That’s why you should “fill your brain research and ask for documents, documents and more documents before filling your garage with cars” We’ve all heard the horror stories on fraudulent documents and even the folks who produce cowl tags with your choice of options and more. Lawyers are busy today with specialties in litigation for such transactions! NOT SO when Chevrolets were built in Canada and you can see where and what the car was born with! This 67 Chevrolet meets these standards & has been verified by Canadian GM Vintage Services.
With two build sheets, one still in place behind the passenger’s seat and shipping tag still in the rear seat springs, this Chevrolet Impala SS 427 is RARER then the US Built Chevrolet SS427! It is 1 of 41, hardtop or convertible built at the Oshawa, Ontario Canada plant in 1967 with the L36 (427/385) and M40 (turbo 400 trans) combination! Most know that Canadian cars differ from their US built cousins. The trim tag is unique (and verifiable), the VIN tag is labeled GM CANADA, the trunks were painted the same color as the body and there are even subtle differences too. How about a transmission filter near the radiator? It’s here. And how about white parking lights vs. the amber ones on all other 67’s? Unique. And the original GM key with the Canadian Maple Leaf on it? I’ve got that too!
In Granada Gold with black vinyl top and black interior, it has not seen rain or otherwise since 1984 and without a speck or rust, this car is almost flawless. Except for a small seam separation on one seat and the infamous GM steering wheel crack, the interior is all there and looks new too. Everything works including the clock! From the 26 year old paint to the chrome and trim, this car sparkles and has seen limited mileage over the past 26 years. In my possession, it has seen 1244 miles and has resided in a climate controlled garage. Me being just the 4th owner, there are no squeaks, rattles, thumps or anything else that would indicate less than a well preserved classic muscle car. The ride in a word is dynamic. It eats up bumps and rumble strips like they don’t exist. With factory 2.73 gears, this 427 cruises down the road at 70mph without missing a heartbeat and with the 427/385 combo, it gets there quick too. Everyone who has ridden in it cannot believe this gem is 43 years old. You will not find a better riding, more quiet 67 in the USA. And that’s not an embellishment.
Documents include the following and more: production date (3/22/67) shipping date (3/28/67) model number (16887) serial number (146062), motor number (T1228IS) (key codes (wow), trim code (813) paint code (GG) Canada Dealer code (84272)and ALL RPO numbers which match the documented and certified Canadian VIN search. Complete book of documents and dealer items stay with the car. The T-78 NOS parking lamps were installed by me. Complete mechanical and paint from receipts from 1984 and its 2nd owner. Nothing wakes up a 427 like a 750 Holley, Tarantula aluminum intake and Hooker headers! The headers and exhaust are new! I have the original QJ Carb, Cast Iron Intake Manifold and Exhaust manifolds! They are included.
Below are the RPO (regular production order) codes that you can cross-match with the car.
C08 Exterior Soft Roof Trim Cover
