Thanks for the comps folks. I got mine in the mail yesterday too.
The real reason they profiled the Elky is kind of a long story. I had my 68 up in NY for Hemmings Musclepalooza/summer show of 2008. I'd won an award there, and they approached me about doing a photo shoot of the Chevelle. That photo session didn't happen until summer 2009. They called me to let me know they would be in my area, to do the new Musclepalooza in Englishtown/Raceway park, and they wanted to do the Chevelle photo's.
Well, I told them that since they approached at the NY show, I'd finished the El Camino, and maybe they'd rather photograph it, since it was a fresh frame off. So they wound up photographing both cars, in a park near me.
So a few months ago they put the Chevelle in the magazine, and they also decided to do a restoration profile on the El Camino, since I had a lot of fresh restoration pictures. A couple weeks ago they called me to get the Elky restoration details. I talked to the writer for a couple hours. Not sure why, but he told me the article would be in the next issue.
Thats my story and I'm sticking to it. No bribes, or free dinners, etc. I was in the right place at the right time, I guess.
Thats the last article for me. I'm out of cars.

Bill I can fix your problem about being out of cars to restore, just tell me what you want and I will start looking. The main reason you get the ink is that your cars are so nice and you achieve results that many of us could only dream about. I had that El Camino at my house before it was restored and to say it was a project would be an understatement. I am certain that this was done by the best and you deserve every award that comes your way. How about a Nova or another 1969 Camaro?

Thanks again for the feedback on the HMM article folks.
That's actually my plan Mark. I'm starting to get itchy for another project.
I'm kind of waiting for a personal issue to be "cleared up" (so there's no speculation, I need surgery to remove bone spurs in my neck/spine, which is causing some fairly serious shoulder/arm weakness and pain/it shouldn't be a big deal) then I want to start looking for a nice clean/rust free 69 Nova body. No numbers, or original drivetrain, etc. I want to build a hot rod, that I can take out and beat on. I love having the numbers cars, but I've discovered over the yrs, I need both the trailer cars, and something I can take out on a Sunday afternoon and pound on. Thats the plan. I'm gonna start looking locally this winter, and see whats available.
Bill,
Very nice article and detail of the restoration.
Congrats.

PS. Going to the Northern Ohio Chevelle Show later this week?

Yep, If I'm still breathing Thurs morning, we'll be trucking down Rt 80 Phil. I'm bringing the El Camino. It's clean, packed up in the trailer, and ready to go. I assume you're coming too? How about Grady/Rich?
Rich is coming, Grady is heading over to the Gibb event that weekend (I should ask him if I can take the COPO in his place... LOL).
I plan on bringing the '69 Malibu, black SS, and a full cooler.
Phil W.
PS. I'm sure you know, but if you exit I-80 at I-71 and head south, you'll be right there at the Holiday Inn.

I finally had the chance to read the whole artical yesterday. Great artical, and photo's too. Nice to see such high quality work from a home project.. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/worship.gif I was glad to see the car at the Chevelle Abration last year.
Will miss seeing all the guys at this years NEO Chevelle show, maybe next year.
Now git out and find that Hot Rod project... <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif
