The very first production Camaro built in 09/66 is listed on eBay for sale. The car was turned into a race car a long time ago but I think this would be a great project to restore to OE spec.
Check out this VIN number: 123377N100001
Here is the listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/First-Production-Camaro-Ever-Built-/330465188948?pt=US_Cars_Trucks
Has anyone seen the trim tag? I'm just curious to know what was the first configuration of the Camaro. Neat!

Wasn't that VIN on a car where the guy refused to show us the entire car before a resto started?

Nice to see the entire car anyways and it would be a cool car to have. Not sure it would be worth retoring though....

I remember something like that too but am maybe confused w/ a couple of the 1'st '70 cars we've looked at here before too?<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/hmmm.gif
Pretty sure we looked at a '67 Coupe here a couple years ago when it was @ BJ that was claimed to be Body # 001 and LOS Vin 00016?.
Looking at the eBoy car pics the Cowl tag's still there!.
It'd be interesting to know what Body # it is also if the hiddens have been checked?.

Car is body #860 which lines up with the Vin for cars that were pilot cars. For some reason the pilots received higher body numbers perhaps from the trim tag and body numbers being added later on. Of the known pilot cars all have body numbers higher than the earliest known regular production cars. In Norwood there is only one body #1 based on body number, in LA there are 4 body number 1's, one each for standard interior coupe, deluxe interior coupe, standard interior convertible and deluxe interior convertible.
For anyone interested in purchasing the car make sure to give the owner a call and talk to him the body work that was done prepping the car for racing.
More pics of the car including the trim tag-

Nope. The consecutive VIN's incremented regardless of model. Next car was 100002, could be been a convertible, who knows....
Some of the first cars were apparently tagged later (again?). Not sure why, but some are 09B's.
Most early cars are 08A's.

NOR was the lead plant and built vehicles before LOS.
No, nothing below 7L100010 has ever surfaced.
