Boy what a year for Bill for recognition for his two spectacular cars. First an article on his 68 Chevelle then an article on the 69 L78 El Camino and now the El Camino has been nominated as one of best 13 muscle machines of the year. This is extra special to me because at one time I thought all was lost when I sold this car to somebody in Connecticut that told me he was going to restore the car with his son but started to part it out instead. It takes a real car guy to start with a car that needed as much work as this El Camino and knowing that Bill had his hands on every inch of the car and to have the El Camino come out this nice and get this recognition is just neat.

Bill you've got my vote. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/headbang.gif <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif

Did you see that Daytona clone in the choices. That guy was cruising around the Harbor not too long ago. I remember the "ANGRY" license plate. The beast really sounded angry.

Thanks for the support folks. I'm sure some are tired of reading about the ol orange truck, but I'm thinking, this will be the last of it. This nomination is a big honor for me personally, because of the work I put into the restoration, from start-finish. I never expected the Elky to be on the list. It was a big surprise for me. Thanks fellow syc'ers for looking in on the restoration, and for those who voted.

Indeed well deserved and clearly one of the best, if not THE best candidate. Congrats Bill!

For anyone who has not seen this vehicle in person, just let me tell you...it looks even better in person!

You've got my vote. I also can't get enough of that 427 Comet. What a handfull that thing must be. I've got a friend with a 427 Fairlane and nothing quite sounds like a solid lifter 427 at about 7 grand!!!

Way to go Bill. You certainly put your whole heart into the Camino and the results speaks for itself!

As long as the El Camino subject is "back here again", I thought I'd post a couple pictures of the new day 2 looking wheels, I but together, so I can take it out for a spin, and not have to deal with the bias ply tire thing. It's a totally different feel on the road. I'm not planning to plow snow with it, just wanted a better ride, and still be able to stick the original wheels on for the shows.

All 4 are TA's
The rears are 15" x 8" with 275-60-15's with 4-3/4" back spacing.
The fronts are 15" x 7" with 225-70-15's with 4-1/4" back spacing.

Looks good Bill. I voted for you even though it should be in the muscle "truck" category. (just kidding)

Thanks again for the support guys.

No Dan, the wheels are Wheel Vintiques. They will custom make the wheels for whatever backspacing you want. 4-3/4" is the right backspacing for Chevelle/El Canino rears. It centers the wheel between the inside of the wheel well, and the quarter panel lip on the outside. 15's are also better for clearing the lower shock mount.

Ugh. And I thought the fake Z28 convertible caused controversy....this will probably top it, based on the comments already posted.

I saw "Angrier" at the Musclepalooza held at Englishtown this summer and was not impressed.
