Hi Gents,

I am looking for suggestions on ATF for Hi-Po automatics. Specifically, the ATF would be going in automatic, big block Corvettes. I've Redline makes a good oil but would like to hear feedback before making a purchase.

Regards,
Dan

I asked one of my good friends who knows transmissions better than anyone should and he told me to (for GM transmissions) just use Dextron ATF. The synthetic juice is too slippery and the clutches will not work as well. You may have to change the fluid more frequently as the fluid today has less "good stuff" for our non-lockup convertors. Get a good cooler and pay attention to your fluid.

I'm a huge fan of Synthetics....but not really when it comes to Automatic Transmissions. Type F has always been known for providing a little better shifts but it is totally non-compatible with Dexron if there is any at all still left in the trans or convertor. If there is.....just stick with the regular Dexron. If everything is new with no old fluid anywhere......fill it up with Type F.

Thanks a lot Rusty and Mark!

I cannot imagine there is another but typical Dextron in the trans as is. Looks like I'll stick to it.

My car uses type F.
That's what Transmission Speclalties said to use.
