There is a new 1/4 mile single pour concrete track with radiant heat proposed in Eolia, MO. Area vendors have been contacted to buy Ad space. When the land and permits finalize, work begins. They are hoping for July 2011 to open Mid America Raceway Park.

Cool....Would that happen to be Rolla, MO rather Eolla?

Eolia is on Rte 61 40 miles North of Wentzville (the old MAR)........ about 60 miles West of me and close to ............... nothing! Rolla is on 44 about 80 miles (+/-) WSW of St. Louis. Not that any of this means anything. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/dunno.gif

Where'd you hear this Jacob?

Better then nothing, but Rolla is less then 2 hours from us, easy to get to using either I-44 or Hiway 63, on the other hand, Eola is going to be a little tougher to get to.

I agree completely. I guess with the $$ of real estate around a metro area it DOES make sense to venture to the stix. Besides; real racers don't mind a little drivin'! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/naughty.gif Hope it's true. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif

A couple local racing forums have been discussing it. Mike V. is involved.

Keeping my fingers crossed. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif

Doesn't Bandimere have a similar temperature control system under part of the track? Used mostly for cooling there isn't it?

Not sure. If it is a geothermal it could do both. I imagine it could help the concrete last longer by keeping it from the extreme temp changes through the reasons. It was brought up at the MAR reunion that it is in the works. Which is a good thing with the uncertain future of Gateway.

Yes, my friend, you are correct. It is used for the concrete launch pad to help keep the area more consistent and keep the racing surface working, even in the hot summer afternoons.

smallhurst, did you bring your car out to a dyno day about 9 years ago in St. Charles at Steigemier's? It was with a group of people from the mofba back then?

Me and Milchak were at the Mid-America Raceway Reunion over the weekend and there was LOTS of talk about the new dragstrip. People are saying that this is well past the rumor stage and is going to happen for sure. On a quiet night here in St. Louis, you can hear the death throes of Waitway.....er, I mean Gateway International. As much as I, and a lot of other people hate that race track, I hate to hear of ANY Drag Strip closing down.

Now there is talk of the Wallace brothers being interested in GIR.
I always said, Gateway is a wonderful facility, but poorly run. If the MAR crew ran GIR, it would be great.

Also mention of an 1/8 mile in Jonesburg.

+1 Mark. I think Rob meant it in a sarcastic way, due to the "rolleyes" smilie. Because it sucks this obstacle popped up.

I see a lot of flat land over here in my area. After all, I live in IL, making me a "flat lander".
