I am helping a buddy sell off some old car parts that he has been collecting for the last 30 years. He has an original factory GM crossram intake manifold with all the parts to install on a 1969 Z/28 but the top lid is a little strange. It has the winters snowflake but no date code and 2 part numbers on the top. 3941130 and 3965549. The only information I can find is that this belongs to a cross ram set up for a 302 hemi motor. I am a little suprised that it could bolt up to a regular cross ram base. Is there anything else I should look for before I advertise it?

Yes, that is a top lid to a Hemi x-ram. They are a bit different than the 'standard' x-ram top, but functionally are equivalent.
Really neat piece, but only really needed by somone building a hemi 302 and missing the top plate...and the fact that any top plate will work with the hemi 302 set up makes the hemi top not really a 'necessity'. Still really cool and very rare.
The harder part to find seems to be the hemi x-ram bottom, as I have been searching for one for years.
I already have a hemi top plate for my setup, but I may be interested as a spare if you come up with a price.
BTW....Any leads on a x-ram bottom ?? <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/naughty.gif

I'd thought I'd throw this out there for everyone's sake.
Also beware because I have seen atleast one 'hemi' reproduction top plate....also saw an o-dash prototype intake 'reproduced'....
these guys are very good at adding /changing the numbers on aluminum parts.

Please understand I take no offense to anybody questioning if this thing is real or not and I would welcome a real expert to look this thing over at my home in southern California to verify it. I saw this intake within days after my buddy bought it over 30 years ago well before we even knew what a 302 semi hemi motor was (or ex wives). In fact the guy he bought the complete intake and parts from asked to look at it again before I brought everything south this week end. This guy has a fathom green 69 Z/28 with a service package disc brake rear end and cross ram, 68 rally green Z/28 with a cowl plenum cross ram, factory headers and he is restoring a red 67 Z/28. He did not have an answer why the top plate had 2 part numbers and no date code while the bottom piece had the right part number and a very late 9/69 date code but there was never a question if it was a real GM part or not and this guy knows his stuff. The only reason I am asking the question is that I found a picture this morning in one of my books and I am just following up on a hunch. If you need more information or pictures e-mail me at

Hey Mark,
I am not questioning the authenticity of your buddy's intake. I was just stating that there are fakes floating around out there.
I'm certain that if your friend had this intake 30 years, that it is indeed real. That is also why I stated my interest. No offense intended.
I have another 'hemi' top plate that I have had for years also, if you would like to compare pics, let me know. max
