View Full Version : Any one here remember Reedman Motors or Mason Chev
Any guys that were around the Philadelphia area late 60's 1966-69 specifically that remembers someone with a 1966 427 red convertible Corvette?
Car was delivered to Mason Chev, Kennett Square, PA.
Then in the Langhorne area - Reedman Motors had the car for sale,
Appears the car title transferred 8-4-69
1972 or 1973 car was in Selinsgrove PA, was sold to Todd Brosius - Todd's Auto Sales.
Appreciate any leads who had the car, 1st three owners.

My 1970 LS6 SS454 Chevelle originally came from Reedman Chevrolet.

If you know which 427 the '66 Roadster had, mentioning it may help jog someone's memory?.
Good luck!.

I'm thinking...let's see...my parents moved us to Levittown in 1966. I went to Langhorne speedway often which was right across from Reedman back in 69 and 70. My Dad was friends with one of the higher ups there and I was friends with his son. So we hung out in the pits and met all the drivers. That gor me hooked a bit on cars and racing early on...My dad taking me and my sis to Atco to watch the races when we were just 4 and 5 years old had an effect too..haha
That may have been too early for me to remember. Later on, when I could drive, I hung out (street raced)at 'the Parkway' with my Chevelles and Camaros...I went to Front street and JFK lot quite often also.
What years would the vette have been around here?? I will ask around some of my friends.
Red Convertible 427 390 HP.
Two tops, radio and tinted glass.
Key dates:
Titled: June 29, 1966
Title 1 "transfer" August 4, 1969
Delivered to Mason Chev, Kennett Square, PA the first week of May, 1966, not sure if it sold there or was bought by Reedman and sold new at Reedman, but it does have the Reedman Motors sticker sticker in the glove box.
Owner #3 was a guy (1972) that had a bum leg and had a hard time driving a car with a clutch, he sold the car to Todd Brosius, Todd's Auto Sales...Selinsgrove, PA.
I had a lead on one guy that sold Todd a red 1966 427 but his description of the car did not completely match.
Then - car came into Selinsgrove with M/T aluminum valve covers on it, rally wheels that were too big and had slightly cracked the front fenders. I'll try to get a pic or two posted.
I sure appreciate anything

Awesome thread on the COPO.
A very neat story from this exact area in the same years, 66 - 70 plus.
This is a link to the picture of the engine we believe was modified out there around Langhorne Speed Shop...

me too. I used to run the parkway in a rally green 69 Road Runner or my 65 Black El Camino. Front street too. The blvd was more recent.. As close as the mid 90's the racing was good on it.
Red Lion rd in front of the old Budd plant had some good runs too. We used to race at southampton and the blvd to the overpass that linked byberry which was a 1/4 mile.:)

I graduated in 1992 and spent all of high school with my 65 there with "Mom", her GN and that crowd. They even did some track rentals. You couldn't spit without hitting a GN or 5.0 Mustang then, so having a muscle car from the 60's was pretty darn cool. Thanks Dad!
And thanks to you guys who raised a memory I actually lived.

then we ran into each other. We know 'mom'(Karen) and Wes for many years and still keep in touch. She was legendary with her GN back then:) Back then I too had a Grand National but did not race it as much as I showed it. I remember when one guy had a new ZR1 in 89 and that car ran Mom down on the big end after she put 4 lengths on him out of the hole one night.
I also remember one night at southampton when a Malibu wagon with a BB launched with both wheels high in the air.. lol crazy.

I went to college with a guy who had a Road Runner from Reedman, and a friend here in Chattanooga bought a 69 Z from the original owner who bought it at Reedman. I grew up in the Philly area, and remember the Reedman ads on the radio. They were a very large multi-brand dealership.
