Guys, just happen to come across a 3946052 block. It's bored to 4.35 (100 over). I'm just wondering how much power people HAVE made with these blocks in the past. It's NOT a "date coded" piece and the guys dad bought it over the counter back in '72.

I'm going to put it in my '69 SS396/350 Nova Yenko tribute. Car will have a 5 speed. I'm building basically the baddest that the "supercar" shops "could" have built back in the early '70. I'm using a 4" stroke and 074 heads, 163 intake or tunnelram. I know how to make power, just want to know where I should stop as I don't mind repairing stuff, but no use just destroying things.

Thanks, John

I have doubts about using a 100 over block. I assume the other 10 thousanths are for clearance.

I've got this ZL-1 project waiting to be put together. One day i'll find the right car for it. Don't mind the 842's... they aren't for the ZL1.

depends on the OD of the sleeve, how much wall thickness of parent block and thickness of sleeves.
my late model 053 was overbored and big od sleeves installed. They pushed the limit. it can be repiared and still usable but i would not go this far for over 600 hp.
052s wrere not as good quality castings as the newer 053s...
link below will make you nervous....
053 block but you will get the idea...
I have learned a great deal about both generation blocks past few years...
i know of 2 racers with 052 blocks(one 1/2 filled other no fill) over 800hp no failures....a can am in same area power wise... also heard of alcohol funny car with an 053 welll over 900 hp.
personally anything over 600 with a052 would be pushing the issue in my book.

Ok, so only ONE reply with regards to the question????????

So here's some info: block set-up I bought was in a "late-model modified dirt car". Thing ran 13.5-1 .100 over with 4" stroke crank, +.400 rods and Brodix BB 2+ heads with a very good size roller cam, injected. Thing HAD to be making ALL of 750 hp. The GM 4" stroke and 7/16 "dimple" rod with 13.5 - 1 TRW +.100 over piston deal ran for 7 seasons like that. So the overbore "seemed" OK. The Eagle stuff and JE piston set-up ran for 2 seasons and did end up breaking a roller lifter and subsequently a pushrod.
